This book is hard to review without giving away spoilers. Sarah, the main character, has been dealt a hard lot in life. She doesn't respond well, but who would? Sarah continues making more than her fair share of bad decisions, can she even be redeemed? A kind stranger bothers to stop and listen to Sarah's story, providing warmth and friendship besides. Sometimes it just takes the kind words and actions from a friend to make a world of difference. As Sarah begins her story, the reader delves into her emotions as well as her life.
The plot is emotionally driven. Readers will likely feel very badly for Sarah, she is a sympathetic character. Though she could come across as a "bad kid," Sarah has redeeming qualities such as perseverance and resilience as well. Having the story told directly through her eyes adds a lot to the overall plot and the impact the story will have on the reader. Overall, this book is recommended to young adult/adult readers.
