Statia Button Dougherty grew up and lives today in Southern California with her husband and four dogs. Statia has always nurtured an affinity for the old west. She enjoys taking road trips and exploring and photographing ghost towns and mining camps. In preparation for this book, she and her husband embarked on a journey from San Diego California, to Santa Fe New Mexico along what use to be the Gila Trail.

They decide to establish a trading post out west,and travel by wagon train, Many adjustments must be made.
Throughout the story, these 2 young people save peoples lives,.gain extended family, but most of all show that having the ability to keep promises leads to a most productive life.
