A QUEST OF HEROES is Book #1 in the #1 Bestselling epic fantasy series THE SORCERER'S RING.

A QUEST OF HEROES (BOOK #1 IN THE SORCERER’S RING) revolves around the epic coming of age story of one special boy, a 14 year old from a small village on the outskirts of the Kingdom of the Ring. The youngest of four, the least favorite of his father, hated by his brothers, Thorgrin senses he is different from the others. He dreams of becoming a great warrior, of joining the King’s men and protecting the Ring from the hordes of creatures on the other side of the Canyon. When he comes of age and is forbidden by his father to try out for the King’s Legion, he refuses to take no for an answer: he journeys out on his own, determined to force his way into King’s Court and be taken seriously.

But King’s Court is rife with its own family dramas, power struggles, ambitions, jealousy, violence and betrayal. King MacGil must choose an heir from amongst his children, and the ancient Dynasty Sword, the source of all their power, still sits untouched, waiting for the chosen one to arrive. Thorgrin arrives as an outsider and battles to be accepted, and to join the King’s Legion.

Thorgrin comes to learn he has mysterious powers he does not understand, that he has a special gift, and a special destiny. Against all odds he falls in love with the king’s daughter, and as their forbidden relationship blossoms, he discovers he has powerful rivals. As he struggles to make sense of his powers, the king’s sorcerer takes him under his wing and tells him of a mother he never knew, in a land far away, beyond the Canyon, beyond even the land of the Dragons.

Before Thorgrin can venture out and become the warrior he yearns to be, he must complete his training. But this may be cut short, as he finds himself propelled into the center of royal plots and counterplots, ones that may threaten his love and bring him down—and the entire kingdom with him.

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, A QUEST OF HEROES is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders. It is 82,000 words.

Very disappointing considering the 4.5 star rating at time of purchase. The formatting is terrible with odd word breaks that make reading extremely difficult. The editing is no better with mistakes like "flower" instead of "flour" and "passed" in place of "past".
The dialogue is ridiculous. Some story elements are too convenient and not plausible: a guy driving a wagon full of hay all night to get to the Castle? It seems the only reason for this is so the protagonist can stow away. To compare this Author to Martin of Goodkind is laughable. To compare her to Tolkien is absurd. I wish I could get my money back as I could not even finish it.

I am sorry for this review. I had such high hopes when reading that this author was likened to Tolkien...but while reading it, it seemed almost as if someone had written a very complicated algorithm for a computer to write a book with minimal input such as names and places, or this book was written in another language and not translated very well .The word use was horrific, swapping words that sound alike and using them instead of the proper word. Then the issue of convenience was just too, well convenient for the plot in the book. Lastly the nook formatting for this book is horrible. I was excited when I first opened the book to see that I had 1667 pages of a Tolkienesq book to read, only to discover that both were horribly misleading. Sometimes the page count went up 5, sometimes 15-25 each page turn. I am very disappointed in this book and wish I could get my money back. I hate placing a bad review on an author, simply because when I write something, well, I hate to read the bad stuff, but I think the author, as well as the 5-star reviewers are aware of the lack of exactly what the lower ratings are talking about.

    Disappointing.

I'm assuming the author's friends and family are the ones leaving all of the glowing 5 star reviews. If not, they must not have been reading the same book as me. Bad formatting, ridiculous plot devices and cookie cutter characters make this book a waste of time and money. (Or 'waist' to borrow from the author, who switched up words with unbelievable frequency. Example: would for wood.)

The bad storytelling combined with the almost comical grammar mistakes make this book absolutely unreadable.

    I'm going to be frank.

This book was horrible. The word choice was sub par, and the book is full of typos. Throughout, all I could think was "Wow, isn't THIS a convenient plot point!" The character development wan nonexistent, the language repetitive and dull. There is a reason the book ia compared to the Twilight Saga. A very, very good reason. They're both deplorable. I wish I could return the book.

    Just Awful!

This was very poorly written. The grammatical mistakes were just laughable. There must have been no editor or proofreader. How on earth did this get published? The plot was about an inch deep, and the hero spent most of the time confused and bewildered by everthing around him, especially when he let his "instincts take over". Duh. Wish I could give it 0 stars.

    Amateurish & childish

I was extremely disappointed with this book, putting it down after a few chapters. I was expecting an epic fantasy novel in the tradition of Brandon Sanderson or George Martin & instead ended up with a clumsy and poorly wriiten children's book. Awful and amateurish, a See Spot Run formula for preteens. Poor character development, worse writing. Don't waste (or as the author would say "waist") your money,

The author has a good story that has amazing potential.  However, this is moderately detracted from by the lack of editing and shallowness of her character development. Thoughtless errors were too frequently present (e.g. Would for wood, waist for waste, changing the spelling of a main character's name for a few paragraphs, etc).  Her style is very repetitive within sections, repeating phrasing much too often.  She left me feeling like I was reading a first draft of a potentionally excellent story.  Disappointed overall.

Amazing read! Original and unexpected in so many ways. So many twists and turns I didn't see coming. Sets the stage for an epic series. Looking forward to the next one. I completely disagree with all the haters, who are obviously just trying to bring down the book (rival authors?) and who attack it for spelling and typos while their own reviews are filled with grammatical errors!  Sad. I guess hypocrisy never ends.
