Part Two of the Derrick Storm trilogy from #1 New York Times bestselling author Richard Castle, available exclusively as an eBook short.
Days after being brought out of retirement to investigate a kidnapping, Derrick Storm has a dead US senator on his hands, an assassin to track down, and nearly six billion dollars' worth of gold bars--hidden by the Communist Party somewhere in the former USSR--to uncover. Teaming up again with FBI agent April Showers, Storm must talk to Ivan Petrov, a secretive millionaire who has ties to the assassination, coordinates for the gold, and a mole leaking information to the Russian government from within his inner circle. And while the CIA mission is getting heated, it's nothing compared to the growing sexual tension between Storm and Showers...

This is only a teaser to get you to buy a book due out in Aug 2012, another of B&N's misleading "good deals." If it had been a real book, it would have rated at least three stars.

I was very disappointed that I paid $1.99 for a book that is only 25 pgs long. I will be very careful in the future before I purchase a book. I know it was my fault.

Hate the teaser 'few chapters' issues. I won't buy the rest on principle, and try to avoid these.

This was a good story but I didn't realize that it was a short story. Now I am looking for the next one which I believe will be a continuation of the first. Not sure why the two aren't together in one book.

Nice read until I got to the part about wanting to find out what happens next, wait for the conclusion in the next book!
I didn't know it was a comic book. A short story is supposed be a short WHOLE story. I purchased this to see if I liked the author as much as the TV series. Too bad! I don'like being hoodwinked! I will bypass all Richard Castle books from now on.
Do yoursellf a favor B&N. Let the readers know when a story is not complete.

Have watched Castle since it started and this was one of the first books about him that I've read. It was a great read and I couldn't help thinking of the TV characters as I read it.

You have to watch B&N. This is not a book! It is the first part of a serialization - about 70 pages of text. Not bad but I feel very misleading and since we have no idea of how many more "books" it will take to finish we have no idea of the eventual cost.

Like the other Derek Storm novels, this is a bit of fun fluff that you can easily devour in one sitting. It's closer to a novella, I believe, and there isn't much substance to make you think. That said, it's entertaining and I don't regret buying it or reading it at all. I happen to enjoy the Castle tv show, and I think the ghost writer did a pretty good job of capturing Richard Castle's literary voice. Sometimes I fancy I can hear Nathan Fillion reading excerpts at a signing, a smirk on his ruggedly handsome face.

There were a lot of drawn out boring moments in the book. I found myself laying it down more often than other novels. The inserts about Storm himself, took up more of the book than the killer. This was my first Castle novel. I don't know if I will purchase another.
