Overview

In A RITE OF SWORDS (Book #7 in the Sorcerer's Ring), Thor grapples with his legacy, battling to come to terms with who his father is, whether to reveal his secret, and what action he must take. Back home in the Ring, with Mycoples by his side and the Destiny Sword in hand, Thor is determined to wreak vengeance on Andronicus' army and liberate his homeland--and to finally propose to Gwendolyn. But he comes to learn that there are forces even greater than he that might just stand in his way.

Gwendolyn returns and strives to become the ruler she is destined to be, using her wisdom to unite the disparate forces and drive out Andronicus for good. Reunited with Thor and her brothers, she is grateful for a lull in the violence, and for the chance to celebrate their freedom. But things change quickly--too quickly--and before she knows it, her life is thrown upside down again. Her elder sister, Luanda, caught in a fierce rivalry with her, is determined to wrest power, while King MacGil's brother arrives with his own army to gain control of the throne. With spies and assassins on all sides, Gwendolyn, embattled, learns that being queen is not as safe as she thought.

Reece's love with Selese finally has a chance to flourish, yet at the same time, his old love appears, and he finds himself torn. But idle times are soon overcome by battle, and Reece, Elden, O'Connor, Conven, Kendrick, Erec and even Godfrey must face and overcome adversity together if they are to survive. Their battles take them to all corners of the Ring, as it becomes a race against time to oust Andronicus and save themselves from complete destruction. As powerful, unexpected forces battle for control of the Ring, Gwen realizes she must do whatever it takes to find Argon and bring him back.

In a final, shocking twist, Thor learns that while his powers are supreme, he also has a hidden weakness--one that may just bring his final downfall.

Will Thor and the others liberate the Ring and defeat Andronicus? Will Gwendolyn become the queen they all need her to be? What will become of the Destiny Sword, of Erec, Kendrick, Reece and Godfrey? And what is the secret that Alistair is hiding?

With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, A CHARGE OF VALOR is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

I just want to say that somehow this book works. Ill admit that at first i thought it was a piece of all the books i love like harry potter, game of thrones, and lord of the rings all mixed together like stew in a pot. It seemed like the author, rice, was cut and pasting for a last minute book report, however i could not stop reading this series. Im hooked and this book has a lot of good twist and turns. The down side is i hate the way the lead character has no flaws he is almost to perfect and everything just happens to fall in place its kind of creepy. Also all the lead characters remind me of someone from another book or series. Like kendrick, the son born out of wedlock is like jon snow from game of thrones, gwedonlyn is like lucrezia from the borgias on showtime, reese is like bran from game of thrones, there is like two or theee characters like robb from game of thrones, there is twins like in harry potter and thor is like harry in some ways. Not to mention plot twist exactly like lord of the rings. So i dont know if im just missing my old series and books but i will say its a page turner somehow it works. Also people just look at each other and fall in love and its every single character so thats a little weird as well. So to sum it up its a good read if you can get past the stuff i mentioned above

This 7th installment was great! The Story was so much fun to read I finished it in one sitting. The book continues the plot from prior stories, but every chapter brings a fresh adventure to an already great story. Twists and turns, villains and maybe new heroes are added and this book takes off. It was a very easy and fast read and I did not want to finish it because every one of the final chapters left me hanging with a different story line that I really wanted to continue to read. I cannot wait for the next book(s). This has really been a fun ride with all 7 books. I have given them to my children to read and my daughter likes them too.

Most of these books are entertaining and suitable for children 14 and up, but as the sequels progress they become less so- it becomes almost expected to read that as each combat ends - those withnessing our hero's victory are in "awe". The author needs to finds additional verbage. Hopefully in book eight the end of the saga is not so drawn out as in book 7. Books 1-5 were the incentive to continue to book 7.

This was a quick read, it kept me hooked and I had trouble putting it down. The characters are great and numerous without being to confusing. The quests are exciting and the development of the characters on the quest is real good. Reece is coming into his own as opposed to being Thors buddy he is showing he can and will stand on his own. Looking forward to the next book!

The stories are very interesting if you can get past all the grammatical and character mistakes. Not as many in this book as in the past. Just when you think all the battles have been fought and the Ring is finally safe again; the tide turns once again being betrayed by family. Aragon is imprisoned for helping humans when his powers are most needed. Thor is captured by his father's army who wants to turn him to the dark side. It is intriguing that so many muster the strength within to complete their quests. I couldn't put this book down. I read the whole thing in one day and can't wait to start the next one. I have only given three stars to the previous six books because of all the grammatic mistakes that make them difficult to read. Yes I would recommend this series.
