Ron Morton is a professor in the department of Geological Sciences at the University of Minnesota-Duluth where he has taught courses in introductory geology, physical volcanology, Precambrian geology, economic geology, earth science for teachers, and people and volcanoes. Ron has also taught for many years in the Elderhostel Program. His main areas of research are volcanic rocks and mineral resources of the Canadian Shield. Ron is also the author of “Music of the Earth” (Perseus, 1996, 2004), with Carl Gawboy “Talking Rocks” (University of Minnesota Press, 2000), with Judy Gibbs “A Walking Guide to the Superior Hiking Trail” (Rockflower Press, 2006), with Steve Morse “Gooseberry Falls to Grand Portage: A Walking guide to the Hiking Trails in Minnesota’s North Shore State Parks’ (Rockflower Press, 2007), and, with Carl Gawboy a sequel to “Talking Rocks” titled “Ancient Earth and the First Ancestors:A Cultural and Geological Journey (Rockflower press, 2011)
