Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sarah Maury Swan
"Ripley's Bureau of Investigation (RBI): Fact or Fiction" is a series of stories about kids trained to determine the authenticity of various purported phenomena around the world. If the item in question is found to be authentic, it can be included in the "Ripley's Believe It or Not" database. In this story, a trio of investigators—Jack, who's good with animals; Zia, who can predict lightning; Kobe, who knows about various tribal customs—is off the investigate sightings of a lizard man in the Florida Everglades. They have to be on guard against the scurrilous Department of Unbelievable Lies (DUL) dudes, who try to disrupt the RBI inquiries, sometimes violently. All sorts of problems beset the stalwart threesome, but they manage to outwit their foes and meet the lizard man (a.k.a. Joshua Tucker). He turns out to be a shy fellow who just wants to be left alone, so he's disguised himself with tattoos, a split tongue, long nails and a tail to look like a lizard. In this guise, he can study and protect the reptiles he loves. The kids gather Joshua's information for the database, but leave the man in his natural habitat. The book is sprinkled with other Ripley's Believe It or Not "facts." I found this book to be poorly written and boring. Reviewer: Sarah Maury Swan

    Kids will love this

I got this for my 7-year-old son and he loves it. It is easy for him to read and he enjoyed the actual facts that are given throughout the story. The few pictures that are in the story brought the story to life for him. I would recommend this to any child or parent.

    It was great

This book is great but it could be better by not trying to have powers and secret agents.I thought it would be non fiction. If it was it would be awsome. My 7 year old brother loves this book and i love it too.

    Greatest book ever!!

This is a great book filled with action, adventure, suspense, mystery, and some very suspicious fishermen!! But if you saw the reviews that say it suks, please keep in mind it is a book best suited for 8-13 year olds.

    Good book. Good book.

The content in the book was excellent, but the pictures are too small. I recommend this book to a first grader that isn't scared of monsters.
