Overview

A Scattering of Cats is a touching memoir spanning a lifetime lived in a house on a hilltop. It is the story of a young girl who grows to adulthood in rural California during the 1940s and '50s, and of the succession of pet cats whose lives she shared. From the earliest pink-nosed kitten to the battle-weary tomcat, Mo, the interweaving of the lives of the cats and their humans changes both forever, and gives us pause to reflect on our own efforts to come to grips with living, dying, and the never-ending process of growing up.

About the Author

SANDRA BOZARTH is a native Californian who loves cats and horses and teaching and writing. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from U.C. Berkeley, she studied in Mexico, traveled in Spain, and taught high school Spanish. She now teaches Spanish to teachers. Her poetry earned multiple honors in the Bay Area’s Seventy-fifth Annual Poets’ Dinner Contest. A Scattering of Cats is her first work of prose.
