Meet the Author

Terry Gene Carr (1937-1987) was an American science fiction author, editor, and teacher. An avid science fiction fan from a young age, Carr began publishing in the 1950s, and edited a number of science fiction anthologies from the 1960s until his death in 1987.

Lester del Rey (1915-1993) was an American science fiction author and editor. Born Leonard Knapp, Del Rey was the author of many juvenile science fiction works. He was the editor at Del Rey Books, the fantasy and science fiction branch of Ballantine Books, along with his fourth wife Judy-Lynn del Rey. Del Rey published regularly in the classic pulp science fiction magazines of the 1930s, including ASTOUNDING STORIES.

Charles Willard Diffin (1884-1966) was an American science fiction author of the pulp era. Diffin's work was published in the popular science fiction magazines of the early 1930s, particularly ASTOUNDING STORIES.

Murray Leinster (1896-1975) (born William Fitzgerald Jenkins) was a mainstay of the pulp magazines of the 1920s and 1930s, and following World War II he broadened his audience by writing for Radio, Television, and Hollywood. Among his accomplishments, Leinster is credited with popularizing the notion of parallel universes and the concept of the internet.

Abraham Merritt (1884-1943) was a respected journalist and has been cited as an influence on a number of authors, including H.P. Lovecraft. His novel THE MOON POOL has several similarities with the hit television program LOST.

Ayn Rand (1905-1982) was a Russian-born American writer, best known for her fierce opposition to all forms of collectivism and statism, including fascism, communism, socialism, and the welfare state. Rand's political views for individual rights, property rights, laissez-faire capitalism, and a constitutionally limited government were expressed in ANTHEM and her masterpiece ATLAS SHRUGGED.
