Meet the Author

Lester del Rey (1915-1993) was an American science fiction author and editor. Born Leonard Knapp, Del Rey was the author of many juvenile science fiction works. He was the editor at Del Rey Books, the fantasy and science fiction branch of Ballantine Books, along with his fourth wife Judy-Lynn del Rey. Del Rey published regularly in the classic pulp science fiction magazines of the 1930s, including ASTOUNDING STORIES.

Charles Willard Diffin (1884-1966) was an American science fiction author of the pulp era. Diffin's work was published in the popular science fiction magazines of the early 1930s, particularly ASTOUNDING STORIES.

Charles L. Fontenay (1917-2007) was a prolific American author and journalist, serving as the editor of several newspapers. He wrote an influential biography of Tennessee statesman Estes Kefauver and penned a number of science fiction novels and short stories during his long career.

Randall Garrett (1927-1987) was an American fantasy and science fiction writer; he published hundreds of short stories in science fiction magazines of the 1950s and 1960s and published dozens of books under a variety of pseudonyms. He is probably best known for his alternative history LORD DARCY series.

Edmond Hamilton (1904-1977) was an early contributor to pulp science fiction magazines of the 1920s and 1930s, and is credited with publishing the first hardcover compilation of science fiction stories. Hamilton also wrote horror, fantasy, and thriller stories for the pulp market. He was married to fellow sci-fi author and screenwriter Leigh Brackett for more than thirty years.
