Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Suzanna E. Henshon
What is a family? How does your family impact your life in special and wonderful ways? This book enables each reader to see that "You are the girl who makes your family complete" (p. 3). At the same time, girls are challenged to consider their roles and responsibilities at home. While a family is there to support the girl in good and bad times, a girl must consider the needs of her relatives as well. Just as each girl is going through changes, her family is constantly evolving and is never exactly the same from year to year. With empathy, girls can better appreciate the responsibilities of other family members. By opening the lines of communication, girls can share their thoughts and feelings in a positive environment. By sharing stories and dreams with each other, families can evolve into a cohesive unit while getting to know each other better. At the end of this book, readers will find family fun coupons and awards. This book provides a positive, upbeat perspective on family life; families will find this a welcome addition to their home libraries. Reviewer: Suzanna E. Henshon, Ph.D.
