    amateur writing style

Reads like a diary or newspaper article rather than a novel. Narrative is built as play-by-play directives instead of building descriptors. Characters are shallow and not believable. Dialogue lacks any common vernacular and does not compliment the characters. The plot is just not intriguing enough to carry through these serious writing flaws. Had to quit reading 65% the way through.

    Pretty good story

I enjoyed the story a lot and felt that it was a good read. Overall the Pros:
    The story was well written
The descriptions were beautiful and i could imagine everything
The love story and mystery were well thought out.
    It was 500+ pages!!
    The Cons:
I disliked the main character. She just drags Tristan and Oliver around like puppets and fool them both into thinking they were the one. She said that she loved both of them but i found it insulting how she could date them both at once.
The story was slightly confusing at times and i skimmed some passages because i was not interested at times.
The characters are 18 yet they act a lot older than their age! If you want to write about teenagers at least make the dialogue somewhat realistic.
While i liked the story i feel no pressing need to read further in the series. It was a good book but it was not captivating.
The author claims the 2 and 3 volume are free but they aren't even for sale! I only see the last book of the series for sale. The author should take off that comment because it is obviously not true.
Overall i enjoyed this free romance mystery novel and reccomend it to anyone looking for a sweet romance and mystery novel. The book was well written bur it gets confusing at times. It exceeded my expectations for a free book.

    Awful

This story was awful. I read a lot of indie books so its not like I have overly high expectations but the writing and grammer were just awful and torterous? I made it through about 30 pages before I just couldn't take it anymore. It was awful. Sorry to be so harsh but its true. I wouldn't read it if you paid me to.

    Whaaaaa......?

Im so confused. How,why do they let her " love" them both? Plz someone tell me because it makes no sense to me. This is stupid and just not right. I would have broken up with her if she said that she loved me AND someone else ( no homo) . Isnt that what anybody in thier RIGHT mind would do? I may be going overboard with this but..... It just doesnt make sense to me. It shouldnt make sense to ANYBODY! You know what never mind. Im just going to let it go. Its just down right DUMB!!! Ok Im finished now. Good story but poorly written

The idea of the story is good but the story itself reads like a rough draft rather than finished product. The overuse of the word "lovely" makes me wonder if the author doesn't know what a thesaurus is. I would have been annoyed with the quality of the book had I paid for it but since it was free I lost nothing but a bit of time. I wish the grammatical errors hadn't made it too difficult for me to finish because as I said, I believe the story may have been good and perhaps I would have enjoyed it.

I think the story has potential, if someone else writing it. Grammar and punctuation were awful, and if I have to read a description of a guy's face as "lovely" one more time I'm going to accidentally throw something. I have NO idea how this book ended up with 4 stars. I started the next one hoping the writing improved, but no such luck. At least the first three books were free; if I actually paid for them I'd be livid right now.

    Good story. So-so writing

The writing can become repetative, and the author states the main character is from california and uses british terminology all the time. But I was very intrigued by the story so I keep reading.

This is a below average read.  The story line has been thought out well, but the writing doesn't support it.  It reads like a diary almost in that it describes every movement.  Don't tell me it, work it into the story!

The biggest problem is that the story picked the wrong main character.  I think telling the story from Tristan's eyes would be much more fascinating.  He's 800 years old... there's gotta be something interesting going on.  Instead, the main character is the 19 year old who is whining about not having her car, is kissing on both guys, and charges $200 pieces of artwork to her credit card without even blinking an eye.  Supposedly she tells both guys that she likes them equally, and they are okay with it.  WHO DOES THAT?

In the first couple of pages we got the "little did I know, he would change my life forever" line.  And then it didn't change at all through the whole thing!!  I kept expecting her to get pulled back in time by the waterfall or something.  I was promised something was going to change.  What changed?!  She's still 19, still spoiled rotten... what exactly?  Another problem... he's 800 years old... you're telling us in all that time he's never really left England, never learned more than English and French, has to go to someone else to have Old English translated for him?  Who should be an expert at this more than him?!  So many flaws made this a painful read.

    Book

Good book. Entertaining......loved it. (And by the way i looked at earlier compents, liking 2 boys does not make you a "slut" so yah? hope i didnt madebut just wanted to point that outsince it "so important") . And i would like to also point out the gammar on some words. Enjoyed the series but there are a cople little things that i didnt like. But if your into Fantasy and rommance books..........(sorry for being a little mean, im tired)

I think it is a pretty good series, but the "California" part is far from it. Chloe doesn't talk like she is from "California" at all. She speakes as if she were from England. That blew a portion of the story from me.
