Overview

Middle-aged bookstore owner Willa Chance is looking forward to the opportunity of appraising a valuable private library that hasn't seen the light of day for fifty years ... until she finds a dead body in the backyard and the ghost of the home's previous owner anxiously waiting for her inside. Hampered by the persistent ghost who insists on keeping secrets from her, Willa navigates a sea of confusing clues as she struggles to uncover the connection between the recent murder and two murders fifty years ago. Is the answer contained in the secret she found in the library? Or the unusual bequest left by the long-dead owner of the house? Or maybe it has something to do with the mysterious journal that everyone seems to be after. Once again, Willa's cat Pandora has to help her figure out the clues, while she and the other cats of Mystic Notch try to keep vital mystical knowledge from getting into the wrong hands. Can Willa discover the identity of the killer in time or will she end up being the fourth victim?

Meet the Author

Leighann Dobbs has had a passion for reading since she was old enough to hold a book, but she didn't put pen to paper until much later in life. After a twenty year career as a software engineer with a few side trips into selling antiques and making jewelry, she realized you can't make a living reading books, so she tried her hand at writing them and discovered she had a passion for that too! She lives in New Hampshire with her husband Bruce, their trusty Chihuahua mix Mojo and beautiful rescue cat, Kitty.

A nice book to curl up and get lost in the charming plot which winds it's ways unexpectedly. I love the animals that help solve the mystery, it adds another awareness to our life, maybe they are communicating with us! I do know that for sure and these books are hence part of the way I think, so I enjoy them even more.

I am very much enjoying this 2nd book in the series. I like Willa and I really like Ranger the dog. Sorry, I am more of a dog person. However, I do like the cats in this series. Jimmy, the new police officer is a good kid. I love that he helped solve the mystery. There were a few typos in this book, but easy to overlook.

First book 5 stars but when I bought this book and it only takes me to pg 14 then says end of sample. I deleted and purchased again hoping for the full book as it does not say it is a sample book before purchase. It still only gave me the sample. I read the first book and loved it enough to buy this one but now i have wasted $8 on a book i can not finish. I do jotp want to try another one just for it to end up being a sample book as well.

This book has a good mystery to try to figure out, but it also has it's light hearted moments. I love the characters especially the cats and how they help solve the crimes. The ghosts add a little fun, but do not take away from the serious nature of the crime comitted. I also enjoy that the characters are not all young lithe and without flaws. I know I will keep reading this series.

This was a fun read, as much as the first novel was. I love the charming, small town setting. It has hints of magic and romance, but the romantic theme is not too mushy. The author gives humorous and true depictions of a cat's personality! I laughed out loud a couple of times. I intend to read the next book of this series.

i'd say average, when the dogs and cats started talking to each other, it turned me off a little. for the price I guess it is an adventure.

A large old house, unoccupied for years, is about to be sold. Our heroine, a bookseller, is in charge of documenting the library. She sees ghosts, and in this book, she adds Robert Frost to her "gang." There are also some cats who snoop around. THis is rather entertaining--maybe a book group would agree.

I enjoy these books with the "special cats" and occasional dog. Light, but good mystery.

Excellent mystery made even more enjoyable by including the canine character Ranger and the feline character Pandora. This is the third book I have recently read by Mrs. Dobbs and each maintained my interest.
