A Spy Like Me is a very fun novel to read!! I loved the mystery and suspense of it all - Laura Pauling kept me guessing throughout! I was shocked in the end. I had guessed one outcome, and was given another!!! Way to go!!
I really enjoyed the setting of Paris. I think it added so much to the mystery and intrigue of the story. So many locations within Paris that I don't think could have been equaled anywhere else.
Savvy is quite a character! She is so spunky and strong for a teenager. I found her to be so believable - often questioning herself and her situation - very much like an every-day teenager!! However, she was born to be a spy - following in the steps of her parents - I think that makes her stand out. Malcolm, her side-kick, truly kept me on edge throughout the story. I was not sure how to feel about him. One moment I was cheering him and Savvy on, and the next, I hated him. Their relationship was a huge roller coaster!!
I have not read too many spy novels, but I can say that I really enjoyed this one. Laura Pauling left me wanting to read more about Savvy and Malcolm. And, I think she left the story in a place that there is room for more adventures from the pair.

With the backdrop of Paris, Savvy Bent must turn into a spy, something she despises, to find out why her bff Aimee disappeared, why Malcolm, her hot crush, is so secretive and why her type-A mom left without a word. This book was a fun read, full of mystery and pastries and family history gone awry. A Dan Brown story for teens who like their mysteries with a chocolate croissant and a latte. Looking forward to the next book in the series to learn more about Savvy!

Loved this book. I finished it in two days, which is hard to do with two toddlers and an out-of-town husband. Engaging story line, memorable characters. A consistently quirky, snarky voice. Laura is a master of misdirection as she keeps the reader guessing about who's good and bad and what everyone is really up to. Completely unpredictable--right up to the end, I wasn't sure how it would all turn up. Overall, a fabulous read. Thank you, Laura! Can't wait for book 2!

You can't help but root for Savvy, a reluctant spy, who's trying to unravel the mystery that surrounds her mother's disappearance, plus there's that cute boy, Malcolm, who is hiding something, too!
A Spy Like me is a nice take on the spy genre, fun and entertaining with twists and turns that keep the pages turning. If you're a fan of Ally Carter's Gallagher Girl series, then you'll like this.
Overview
Savvy dodges a bullet on her first date.
Her best friend disappears.
The boy she's kissing is hiding deadly secrets. About her.
Eventually, the truth comes ...
