I could read A Squirrel's Tale to my class of 3 and 4 year olds everyday and they'd never tire of it. If I give them a choice, they always choose this book. They know the story by heart and like to take turns being the different characters in the story. The look forward to looking under the flaps and at rest time they put the little squirrel through the slots by themselves. I've followed the diagram on the back of the book to make my own squirrel. After we've read this book, we have lunch and the children enjoy telling me that they're having the same foods that were on Vole's cupboard shelf. They look forward to the "scary part" as they refer to the woodsman and they all say the ending word together. We have so much fun with this book and it just never seems to get old.

Teachers, Use this book to teach prepositional phrases to your upper elementary students. Thats what I used for my 5th graders. They created their own squirrel adventure and really enjoyed it.
