Overview

Archaeologist Sarah Baxter had a clear directive: travel back to nineteenth century London to retrieve the measuring device she left behind. But her bungled attempt at thievery left an English Earl dead and his brother bent on revenge. Sarah must once again go back in time to find the device and return to her own time before her tragic mistake puts a noose around her neck. Unfortunately, the only way to get close to the device is to befriend the very man who wants her dead.

Eric, the new Earl of Earnston, was determined to catch the woman who killed his brother, but she'd disappeared without a trace. Twelve months on and there are still no clues to her whereabouts. As luck would have it, he finds a distraction. A new family have arrived in town and Miss Sarah Baxter is a delightful diversion among the stale debutantes in the ton.

Sarah knows it is madness to seduce the man who would want her dead should he know who she was, but the Earl is an alarmingly persistent gentleman. Can Sarah procure the device without her secret being revealed? And what will the Earl do when he finds out the woman he's in love with is not the woman he thought he knew?

Sarah Baxter has made a huge mistake. Traveling back in time, she has left a piece of 21 century equipment in 19th century Regency England. When going back to retrieve it, she makes a mess of things. Not only did she not retrieve the device, but she inadvertently causes the death of an English Earl. Going back again is her only option. What happens when she finds out the Earl's brother is looking for her?

Eric, the new Earl of Earston, is determined to find his brother's killer even if it is the last thing he does. When he meets Sarah, he is instantly attracted to her even though it seems as if she is hiding something from him. What will he do when he learns that Sarah is the person that is responsible for his brothers death? Will he give up his chance of true love for revenge?

I'm a sucker for time travel so when I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. This one is a little different from the others that I have read. Usually the hero or heroine is thrown back in time without them knowing why or how. In this case, Sarah's father owns a time travel company. They go back in time to learn more about the artifacts the find (the time they are from), which in of itself is a pretty interesting idea.

Without giving too much away, I'll say I really enjoyed this book and I had tears in my eyes at the end! I loved the story, but the writing was a bit off....hence the lower rating.

Sarah is an Archaeologist sent back in time to retrieve a mapping device that she was unable to acquire during her first trip which led to the death of the Earl of Earnton.  Now she must get close to his twin and get the mapping device no matter what the cost.

Time travel romances are one of my favorite genres and A Stolen Season doesn't disappoint! The era was well described, you could easily visualize yourself there.  I felt drawn to the main character and my heart broke for her as she found herself falling in love with Eric.  The story stayed true to time travel rules and the intense blossoming romance between Sarah and Eric is easily felt.  This was a page turning novel that left me at the edge of my seat.  There were also a few teary moments, so be prepared to get your Kleenex ready.

One small mistake in the past will change everything about her future... Archaeologist Sarah Baxter just broke one of the biggest rules of time travel: leaving a piece of 21stcentury equipment in 19th century Regency England. Unfortunately, when she goes back to retrieve it, she makes an even bigger mess of things—resulting in the death of an English Earl. Now his brother is not only out for revenge, but he also has Sarah's device. Which means an entirely different approach is needed. It doesn't occur to the new Earl of Earnston that his charming acquaintance is responsible for his brother's death. He is merely swept away by a passion that threatens his very reputation. Yet he gets the distinct impression that Miss Baxter is hiding something from him. Now Sarah must find a way to steal back her device, hide the truth about the earl's brother and—most importantly— not fall in love...

    Review:

I thoroughly enjoyed this time-travel romance!  Once I started it I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting.  I always like the idea of time-travel and when I see books about them, I picked them up.

This new to me Author really got my attention from the get-go.  The idea that Sarah is an employee of a company that does archaeology through time-travel was very clever.

The Author did a great job of combining Sarah a twenty-first century girl with Regency England, I liked the little sayings she kept dropping and having to cover them up.  Plus, how she kept bucking society norms when they did not go with her world, for example when she going without a maid or sneaking off with Eric.  Now, the intimate scenes with Eric and Sarah were emotional and super sexy.  I liked the emotional quality of the end of the story, when we see all the lies come out and how it effects the future.

Really a great story and I am so glad I asked to review it.

Sarah Baxter is a time traveler. She and her companion are in Regency England to retrieve a mapping device. When Sarah tries to steal it, she accidentally causes the death of Lord Earnston. Now his twin, Eric, is the new Earl. What will happen now that she's forced to return and find the device she lost? Sarah is an interesting character. It's not easy for a modern woman to adjust to the restrictions that society places on a young lady. I loved watching her struggle with these changes. She's a bright intelligent woman who is used to taking care of herself. After all she's an archaeologist. Eric is from a time where men were in control and had the freedom to do as they wished. His duty is to marry and produce an heir and a spare. I enjoyed watching these two interact and fall in love. Sarah knows that they can never be together. No matter how much she wants him. Eric can't understand her refusal. Her guilt and conflicting emotions are heartbreaking. A Stolen Season is a wonderful romance that captured my interest. I love the characters, the time period and the witty dialogue. Tamara Gill did a wonderful job combining all these interwoven elements into a gripping story that kept me entertained from the first page.

I loved it. It is a time-travel historical novel set in 1800s. The book is full of intrigue, romance and thrill. Sarah and Richard journeyed to the past to retrieve something but they made a mistake and now they must return to right their wrong. One season is all they get. If they failed history might change for the worst. So it is crucial that they retrieve that object and return home to the present.
I loved sarah's character and all other characters are well written too. The story is beautifully told. It is so good that I couldn't put it down once I started reading. It's definitely a must read for all readers. I'm sure people will enjoy it as much as I did.

Tamara Gill is one of those author's who never dissapoints in my opinion. This story about a time traveling archeologist Sarah and her love Eric was all that I hoped it would be. A sassy independent heroine and an unexpectedly in love hero. If you love romance but have never tried a time travel romance give this book a try. Tamara Gill will have you addicted as she has me!

Another time travel romance that fans of the genre are sure to enjoy.
The novel begins at breakneck speed with a deadly, moonlit chase through the woods between Sarah and the Earl of Earnston. The suspense continues right up until the very final few pages.
Although charming and romantic, there is a certain sense of doom pervading through the story.
I couldn't help but have all fingers and toes crossed for Sarah and Eric as I progressed through the novel.
It was difficult to imagine how the author was going to reconcile the protagonists, in light of Sarah's role in the death of the Earl of Earnston. However the author manages to resolve things in a satisfying and romantically poignant way.

I really enjoyed this time travel romance! Right from the start

I really enjoyed this time travel romance! Right from the start of the story we are pulled in, with some action adventure scenes to start things off and set up the plot. Sarah has travelled back in time to retrieve something left behind that results in the death of the current Earl of Earnston, leaving his brother Eric to take over the family. When she returns again with the same mission having failed the first time around and with the guilt of inadvertent death on her hands, she now has to deal with Eric - and the sparks fly between them. I really enjoyed the set up of the story, the progression of feelings Eric and Sarah have for each other and her dilemma, knowing that Eric is falling in love with her (and vice versa) and yet when her mission is done she will have to leave him. The setting was well described and brought to life Regency England with its elaborate homes, clothing and social events. The story is told in both points of view which I always appreciate. It was a real page turner as the story progressed and I enjoyed it thoroughly, including the wonderful ending. 4 stars for this historical romance treat!

Sarah, the heroine is an archaeologist who accidentally loses a mapping device (a GPS of sorts) while in the 19th century. the device comes into the keeping of the Earl of Earnston who collects peculiars. In an attempt to recover (steal really) the Earl catches her breaking into his library & in the ensuing pursuit, they meet with an accident & the Earl falls to his death. Sarah has no chonice but to flee when the Earl's twin brother Eric finds her at the scene of his brother's death. Eric catches a glimpse of a fleeing figure & swears revenge when he finds the device at the murder scene.

Sarah flees back to her time 200 years in the future only for her father to send her back with a colleague to recover the device who is now in Eric's keeping. They portray themselves as brother and sister, newly back from the continent with Sarah enjoying her 1st season as a debutante.

A quick and easy read and while there were a few holes in the story (I thought Sarah's moderness would have raised more eyebrows); overall believable (which I always feel is the biggest challenge in a time travel romance). I thought that Eric would have realized that Sarah was fat from an innocent virgin seeing how passionate & experienced she was as well as how comfortable she was to be alone with him. Richard, Sarah's pretend brother doesn't get much storytime but Eric's cousin Anita & his grandmother are both firmly on Sarah's side (and matchmaking!) & nice side characters.

I was a bit worried how the author would have Sarah & Eric come to their HEA but it was done quite nicely.

Time-travel can be hard to write.  Especially when the time-travel changes present day situations.  Tamara Gill did an amazing job with the small details on this one.  While most of the story does take place in the past - one of the most moving scenes is actually in the present between Sarah and her father.  It was written beautifully and really helped make the story what it is.

Sarah has really managed to make a mess of things - and she continues to do so.  Even though she really only has the best intentions, she seems to have a gift of messing up the past.  When she finds herself falling in love with Eric instead of just trying to retrieve a modern day artifact from him, she knows that she's in trouble.  But they just can't seem to stay away from each other!  Events seemed to just spiral out of their control and it just reminded me so much of real life.

The past was brought to life beautifully.  I loved the people and even Sarah's small mistakes and how the ton reacted to them.  She seemed to make quite a few minor mistakes every day - but Eric just found them endearing (a trait I loved about him).  They were a very fun couple to watch and complimented each other amazingly.  This is the way a time-travel romance is supposed to be.
