I think it is one of the best critical works of its kind. The author is obviously familiar with all the nuances of African literature which is the background from which Achebe writes.Though a book considered a bit difficult,Abrahams has been able to break it down to sizable, comprehensible parts, using appropriate literary language, yet aptly assessible to all readers. It is a must-read not only for those doing research work on Achebe's works, but also anybody who enjoys African literature.
