OMG this book was God sent! I'm Haitian American and I've missed my mothers cooking since I've been living in Buffalo,NY. Once I saw this book I knew I had to order it! My Italian husband is so happy with the meals I've prepared! I feel like a true Haitian now! Making the most delicious meals I remember from my childhood.

I was just saying how I wish I had a book to share with my American friends who love haitian food. The instructions are to the T. I will definitely be giving this book to the new brides at the Haitian church where my husband pastors in Stockbridge, Ga. Especially the young Haitian-Americans women who may need the extra help.

I use this book quite often. Not only does the book have recipes related to all parts of Haiti, but it also provides history.

I love this book and so does my entire family! I am a first generation American and I have been looking long and hard for a Haitian cook book in English, when I got this book, I went straight to my mother and aunts to check the accuracy of the recipes. They were all very happy to see the recipes followed their traditions, as well as some recipes they'd forgotten! Just a note, these recipes are more so from the stand point of people from the Northern part of the country(which worked great for me!)

I have searched long and hard for a cookbook that captures Haitian cuisine. Mirta Yurnet-Thomas and the Thomas Family not only offer the reader a glimpse of Haitian history, but they also include some of the most popular dishes. It was very helpful to have a glossary to look up certain fruits and veggies. I just prepared my very first Haitian dish and it tasted wonderful. I look forward to the next. This cookbook is a lifesaver for all of us non-Haitians who love the taste of Haiti. Thank you Mirta!
