Losing Control...
Alex Monroe's life is organized and planned out just the way she likes it. As a top employee at a large brokerage firm in Chicago, she has her eye on a promotion. However, after all her hard work, her promotion is given to someone else. Now, Alex feels like everything else in her life is spiraling out of control.
Daniel McClellan steps on the scene and almost immediately captures Alex's heart and her coveted promotion. While balancing a life with work and Alex, Daniel urges her to let her guard down. Alex wonders if she does this, will Daniel be worth it. Meanwhile, Daniel is hiding a big secret of his own.
Tonya Lampley's novel, "A Taste of Love," is a good read. I found myself immediately drawn into the story line. In addition to the two main characters, Lampley throws in a couple of bffs, dealing with aging parents and a trip to Jamaica to keep the story interesting. I wanted to know what would happen with Alex and Daniel....especially after Daniel's secret is exposed.
I also like the way Lampley's characters have close ties with family. Alex especially was struggling with the recent death of her father and so that weighed heavily on how she interacted with Daniel.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has had to deal with relationships that have gone awry. It helps to put issues into perspective from the female and the male point of view. The only thing that I didn't particularly care for was the trite ending.
