Overview

Type-A chef Carolyn Henderson has walked away from her job at a trendy NYC restaurant after an abrupt family tragedy. Now, as a guardian to her four-year-old niece, Emma, and a very disobedient mutt – kids and dogs are so not her skill set – moving back to Marietta, Montana seems the best temporary option. But when confronted by her parents' declining health, Carolyn has to face reality. And she's going to need some serious help. So who better to ask than Matthew West, a blast from her high school past... and as hunky and helpful as ever.

Vet – and very eligible, if reluctant, Bachelor – Matthew West can't believe his luck when his high school crush stumbles through his door. Dogs, kids, and gorgeous damsels in distress. Carolyn needs help with the pup, and he needs help whipping up delicious concoctions for the Bachelor Bake-Off. So she wants to make a deal: dog obedience lessons for cooking tips... but Matthew wants to broker quite a bit more...

I thoroughly enjoyed reading A Teaspoon of Trouble by Shirley Jump, the first entry in the Bachelor Bake-Off series despite is making me cry. This is another wonderful collaboration of authors, created by Tule Publishing. The Bachelor Bake-Off is a fund raiser by the town to buy a rundown house in Marietta and refurbish in the memory of firefighter Harry Morgan as a teen center. Each of the bachelors entered into this “contest” are not cooks. In this story, Caroline Henderson, a type-A cook, returns to her parents’ home in Marietta, Montana with her young niece Emma and Emma’s unruly puppy. They had just lost Emma’s parents in a car crash and Caroline was named guardian. The entire family is struggling with their grief and Caroline has no idea how she will be able to return to her highly demanding job in Manhattan with Emma and be able to be the parent Emma deserves. I was truly able to relate to Caroline as I had unexpectedly loss my sister a couple of years ago. Although I’m not a guardian to my adult niece, she knows my family is there for her and that I am a surrogate mom for her. When Caroline left ten years prior she broke the heart of Matt West her high school sweetheart. Matt has become the town veterinarian, taking care of the pets and animals of the residents of Marietta, a town he loves. He has also been entered into the first Bachelor bake-Off when he doesn’t know how to cook. When Caroline brings in Emma’s dog the two reconnect. These two make a deal; dog training lessons for cooking lessons. Both are stubborn and hard headed as they try to make sense of this second chance they have. This was a sweet, fun and entertaining story with very likeable and authentic characters that you want to cheer on, hoping for that happy ending. The characters were well written with complex characteristics. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. I am truly looking forward to the next entry in the Bachelor Bake-Off series. I highly recommend this book to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Carolyn finds herself a guardian of her niece and Pet and moves back to Marietta , Montana. Enter a man from her past to assist with the transition and potentially her future. A new addition to the Marietta , Montana town and guaranteed to cause chuckle and sighs. Waiting for more in this new series. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

A sweet light hearted romance. Carolyn and Matt dated in high school, but once they graduated, Carolyn left Marietta and never looked back. She had bigger plans and her little hometown just couldn't fill them. She had been living her life in New York City for the last ten years and working as a sous chef. Carolyn is back in Marietta temporarily with her niece Emma who she was given guardianship after he sister and husband were killed in a car accident. Carolyn doesn't know anything about raising children. Emma also has a dog, Roscoe and she can't bear to part with. Roscoe is in serious need of training. When he ends up sick, Carolyn takes him to the vet and to her surprise, the vet is no other than her high school boyfriend, Matt. Matt was surprised to see Carolyn in his clinic. He never forgot her and now that she was back in town, he will do anything to convince her to stay. When Carolyn finds out Matt has signed up for the Bachelor Bake-Off and doesn’t know how to cook, she offers to teach him in exchange for obedience training for Roscoe. They soon find themselves rekindling what they once had. But Carolyn insists she is heading back to New York soon, so they can't get to serious. How will Matt convince Carolyn to stay in Marietta and give their relationship a second chance? This was a really sweet story and a wonderful start to a new series. It is a well written and enjoyable novella. Sometimes I find novellas can feel a bit rushed, but this one has enough details to make a great story without anything feeling like it was left out. It is a perfect book for when you don't have a lot of time, but want a fulfilling story.

This was a sweet story. Carolyn returns home to Marietta with her young niece Emma after being named as Emma's guardian. Carolyn grew up in Marietta but left town right away, after turning 18. Matthew West, Carolyn's ex, never expected to see her back in town. They meet again at his vet practice where she goes, along with Emma & Emma's dog Roscoe. Carolyn has 2 weeks off from her job as a sous chef in a New York restaurant & can't wait to return. Matt has signed up for the bachelor bake off but has no clue how to bake anything. Carolyn tutors him in making cookies & he starts obedience training with Roscoe. Carolyn has no desire to stay in town, has trouble relating to Emma but over time they form a bond.

A delightful read of a second chance romance. Carolyn thought she was living her dream in New York as a chef when a family tragedy happens and she has to return home to Marietta. Not in her plans of having a four year old, Emma and Roscoe, a not well mannered dog. Carolyn's high school boyfriend, Matt is the town vet and has entered the Bachelor Bake Off, he has asked Carolyn for help. Matt has never stopped loving Carolyn, now if he can only get her to see this where her heart really belongs. Ms. Jump has packed this book with plenty of emotions that will keep you turning the pages. How can you not fall in love with this book, a puppy, a little girl and a handsome town vet, who is learning to bake. This is the first book in Bachelor Bake Off series, can't wait for more. I highly recommend this book.

This is an awesome sweet read that is filled with emotion. The last person Matthew West expects to see in Marietta is Carolyn Henderson. Yet here she is in his veterinarian office with an unruly dog and a little girl that is the sweetest thing Matt has ever seen. Carolyn was his high school sweetheart but she broke his heart on graduation day when she let him know he wasn't enough to keep her in Marietta. She had plans and didn't look back when she left town. They may never be close again but they each have something the other needs. Striking a deal to help each other out has them spending a lot of time together. Will they be able to walk away from each other again? I highly recommend this one.

have been reading Shirley Jump novels for years and have yet to figure out how she does it. She waves her magic wand and takes a sweet story and turns it into a deeply moving life lesson. So it's only fitting that Teaspoon of Trouble supplies light hearted comedy and realistic situations. Somehow, she manages to tackle a lot of story in a small amount of time. The importance of family, dealing with grief, facing fears, taking on some heavy hitting responsibilities all while staying true to yourself, falling in love and following your dreams. That was a mouthful, but she delivers it all in a calm, entertaining and thought provoking way. Carolyn and Matt may seem too good to be true but they make for a fun combination.
