Why would God answer her prayers for Jim's safety this way? Why would God send Jim to her as a soul mate only to rip him away in the prime of his life? Had God stopped listening? Had He stopped caring? Had they done something to deserve this?

Editorial Reviews

Janette Oke
"Loss is always difficult -- and to lose one we love dearly, so unexpectedly and tragically, rocks our boat until we are sure that the waves will sink us. There is so much we can learn about weathering life's storms in the pages of this book. God bless you, Jennifer, for having the courage to open your heart that others might find the strength and courage to journey on through faith in the One who truly understands all pain and loss."
John Catoir
"This is a love story for the ages. I couldn't put it down. This book will make you cry and laugh as it teaches you the meaning of a true faith in God and reveals the power of Christ."
Joni Eareckson Tada
Jennifer reminds us that finding the answers is not nearly as important as finding The Answer."
Philip Yancey
"Jennifer lays down a path of hope for others who face the unthinkable."

Meet the Author

September 11 widow Jennifer Sands has gained a reputation as one of today's most dynamic Christian authors and speakers. After her husband was killed, God rescued her from hopelessness and gave her a new life in Christ -- along with a powerful writing and speaking ministry. Her first book, "A Tempered Faith", candidly details her emotional and spiritual struggle after 9/11. Her second book, "A Teachable Faith", passes on the lessons and biblical truths that God taught her through everyday life experiences. In her third book, "A Treasured Faith", Jennifer shares her continuing biblical growth and her experience with breast cancer. Wherever you are in your own faith journey, there is an "ATF" book that will speak to your heart, encourage you in your trials, and challenge you to grow closer to God.
Jennifer is a New Jersey native with a degree in pharmacy. She continues to work part-time as a pharmacist; however, the primary focus of her work is now writing and speaking to local, national, and international audiences.

Max Lucado should be proud to be in this book

As a huge Max Lucado fan, especially of the daily devotional journal made from Grace for the Moment, I couldn't help checking out 'A Tempered Faith.' Well, it checked me out . . . Once I started, I couldn't stop. It's one of those kinds of books.

Besides the gentle, clear and honest writing style, what compelled me forward was simply wanting to know more about how this young women coped with losing her fairytale husband in America's worst terrorist attack. How does someone deal with waking up to such a nightmare?

At first Jennifer is numb, but then she begins this stomach-churning slide into depression and anger at God. You have to look at the book cover and see her name to remind yourself she made it out alive--with strength from above that opened my eyes and my heart to a new connection with God.

The '9/11 Diary' at the end (which uses the Lucado devotionals) is one of the most riveting suspense stories I've read since the 'Diary of Anne Frank,' which Jennifer's journal reminds me of. Really, this woman's 9/11 Diary could be one of the more important documents to come out of this tragedy.

A gripping story of Jennifer's loss of her husband and my best friend!

I began reading this book not knowing what to expect. I knew Jim for over 30 years before we was taken in the tragedy of 9/11. I only met Jennifer at their wedding 5 years before that. Having known Jim for so long I knew that his bride was a strong willed person. This book is a look into the pain and suffering that many like Jen must be suffering. It also provides a guide that can be followed to find a way out of the darkness and how to rediscover hope and faith. An excellent read!
