A Tiger's Claim - Ashwood Falls, book 1
*It also includes the Ashwood Falls Novella Winter Eve*

A Tiger's Claim
As the Alpha's only daughter Shayna Andrews has always been treated like a rare gem, protected like royalty, and she's suffocating. Her longing to be independent has driven her to sneak out one evening after dinner. After relishing in being able to run free without an escort, she finds herself face-to-face with the enemy, miles from home, and nearly loses her life until a lone wolf comes to her aid.
Travis Hunter's main objective is to destroy the Onyx Pack-a group of drug using, murdering rogue shifters. His seek-and-destroy plans are put on hold when he rescues a female from a brutal attack. The beautifully exotic tiger shifter, Shayna, stirs a passion he thought died with his long-lost mate.
When Shay's first heat cycle slams into her, Travis has no choice but to submit to her needs-and his own. But there is always a price to sleeping with the Pack princess. Not only will they have to face her Pack, Shay and Travis will have to deal with a mating that is beyond a single night and could have consequences more than either of them had thought. And when Travis finds out Shay wears the enemy's brand, things will go from bad to worse.

Warning: One alpha female who doesn't take no for an answer, a wolf with more on the line than just his heart, and a combustible attraction that's sure to cause more than one sweaty night.

Winter Eve
There comes a time when setting your differences aside isn't just necessary, it's a means of survival. After losing over half of their dens to a group rogue shifters, the wolves and leopards merged as one Pack, but living together is much more of a challenge then they expected.

Danica Welsh was born to be the leopard pack healer. An accident involving a drug induced youth left her badly burned and scared-emotionally and physically. Without the ability to heal by touch, she secludes herself to the edge of town, away from Ashwood Falls' overly concerned citizens. All hope of mating and family become a distance dream. When she finally starts to accepts the long, lonely existence ahead of her, a stranger crashes into her life, and her heart.

After Nevan Mathews' fiancé died three ago, he submerged himself into his work, cutting off all reminders of a life he dreamed of with the woman he loved. He lets his step-mother talk him into taking the first vacation in five years to visit for the holidays. But an accident delays his travel plans, sending him to Danica's doorstep and raises a need he thought he would never feel again.
Can they tear down the walls around their hearts and submit to the passion before another claims Dani for his own?

Warning: Contains a shifter who's scars run deeper than skin, a human who has the heart of a shifter, and a snow storm that's sure to have them both reaching for warmth.

I do love me some kitty shifters and this time it turned out the kitty was the heroine! I haven't read too many of those so I was enjoying this one right off the bat. Throw in a yummy wolf shifter and some danger and action? Oh, yeah. That's my kinda book ;)
I love when an author has a fresh take on the world of shifters and Davis did a great job making her shifters a bit different from the rest. Not only was the Pack a mix of both cats and wolves they had special powers like telepathy, empathy, fire starting, etc. That was so working for me. I also liked the take on half shifters. They're actually mutants stuck in half shift form and are deadly to full shifters. Different, right?
I really enjoyed both Shay and Travis. She's trying to find a bit of freedom in her very restricted life and he's a single daddy raising his little girl (with the help of his mother) after they'd lost their pack years earlier. The bond between his daughter and Shay was very sweet and seeing him with his daughter...yeah there were some make you aw moments.
While the romance was fairly instantaneous because fate and the whole "mates" thing playing a part it actually worked for me. I liked the two together and how they interacted. They just... fit.
The book doesn't delve too deep. It's an easy read but things stay pretty simple and surfacey if that makes any sense. There's a touch of danger but it's quickly resolved as well. My only problem were some blips in the editing but I enjoyed the tale enough to overlook those for the most part. If you're looking for a light, quick shifter romance for a hot summer afternoon I'd say give this one a go.

Shayna "Shay" Andrews, a rare white tiger and pack princess, feels as though her adoptive family is smothering her. After yet another fight with her father over the tight rein he is keeping on her she takes off on a run without a guard. If not for the intervention of Travis Hunter, An Alpha wolf who lost his pack, she would have been violated and killed by the mutant Onyx Pack that is out to either kill or convert every shifter they can. Travis takes her back to his cabin to treat her wounds and to keep her safe until she can contact her family. Unfortunately the trauma Shay suffered has thrown her into her first mating cycle. Travis helps her through it only to discover she is his true mate. Now he just has convince her and her father who is the Alpha of the Ashwood Pack.

Trying to avoid the Mutants who have managed to invade the Ashwood land in the past, Travis and Shay also must find a way to save Travis' daughter who has been infected with a poison that is not only sending the four year old into an early shift, but will also cause her to turn her into one of the murderous Onyx Pack Mutants. Forcing Travis to kill her before she can infect others. Will Travis and Shay stay alive long enough to form a mating bond? Will they be able to find a serum to save Josie? Will the Ashwood Pack accept the mating of a tiger and a wolf? What happened to Travis's first mate and his pack?

I fell in love with this book from the moment I read the first page. It keeps you involved from start to finish. If you like stories about shifters and have not tried one of Lia Davis' books before let me recommend this series. There is a prequel novella titled A Winter's Eve that tells the story of Danica "Dani" Welsh & Nevan Matthews. Although not necessary to read it before A Tiger's Claim you may want to pick it up as well because their story is referred to through this story. Since you are already thinking about these two books why not take a look at book 2 in the series, A Mating Dance Ashwood Falls Book 2 about Cameron Nickels & Blaine Andrews along with Surrendering To The Apha - Ashwood Falls Book 3 about Ashwood Pack Alpha Keegan Andrews & Addyson Lewis.

Great story! Lots of action, some hot shifter sex, and a little deceit, definitely makes for an enjoyable read!
Shayna runs off to blow off some steam after she argues, once again, with her over protective father. She doesn't realize how far out she is until she feels danger lurking and she has no way of linking with her family. While she is fighting to free herself from the crazy half man/ half wolf mutants, Travis arrives to give a helping hand/ paw, lol.
After the attack she starts to also realize that her family is over protective for good reason. The Onyx pack is looking for her, and she is still in danger every additional second she is away from her pack.
Back at Travis's cabin as they are both healing, her first heat cycle kicks in, and  the sexy wolf who rescued her is more than happy to help her out.
I absolutely love Alphas!! Vampire, Wolf, jaguar, or even bear, it doesn't matter, lol. There is just something so freaking sexy about them. And there are plenty of Alphas in the Ashwood Falls series. I'm so looking forward to reading the next one.

The second book in the Ashwood Falls series continues to enchant the reader with its great characters and engaging world.
Shayna is a tiger shifter who is overprotected by her family and yearns for some freedom and she finds more that she’s looking for when she is protected by mutant rogues. Luckily she is rescued by Travis, a wolf who is out to destroy the mutants that destroyed his mate and pack.
The chemistry between the two burns hot and fast, especially when Shayna goes into her first heat and Travis helps her through it.  As the attraction builds, the two are forced to go on the run when they are attacked again.  Shayna’s love for Travis and his family grow and when they have to fight to save his daughter’s life
The suspense builds throughout the story as they try to stop their enemies and protect the inhabitants of Ashwood Falls.
The author has created a world that leaves the reader entertained and wanting more with its well written sex scenes, fight scenes a believable story line and magical characters.  The story also has surprising twists that keep the reader anticipating what’s next.

This is the story of Shay and Travis. Who knew the first time Shay, a white tiger, came into heat, she would be with Travis, a brown wolf, and they would turn out to be mates? Oh, and that was their first time meeting!

I loved it! The flow of this story line was so smooth and leaves you with no question about what's going on with each character. What about Josie? Who wouldn't fall in love with that 4 year old little princess. Her part of the story broke my heart. Thank you Lia Davis for another amazing book in this series. Can't wait to return to Ashwood Falls for the next book, A Mating Dance.

Shayna is the protected Princess of the Ashwood Falls Pack. She is not allowed much freedom, and even if she knows it’s for her own safety, it still eats at her. The one time she goes against those rules and the consequences are dire. She’s attacked by mutants.

Travis has lost his mate and his pack. All he has left is his daughter and his mother. When he sees the mutants attacking a woman he acts, only to find out the woman they were attacking is his mate, his true mate.

Shay and Travis work through a lot of issues and obstacles to get where they can be together and happy. These two make a beautiful couple and I can’t wait to read more about them.

Her world changed forever when tiger claimed his wolf! Magnificent continuation of the shifter series -- Ashwood Falls! Be sure to read
Winter Eve first, the prequel to this story. I loved the feel of running wild through the woods with Shay, Josie, and Travis. And now a little about the book...

Shayna Andrews is the pack princess and she is suffocating! Her father won't let her run free and she is never alone. One day after a huge fight with her father, she took off in the woods and somehow left the den without her normal escorts. She was so mad she lost track of how far she ran and ended up face to face with the enemy. The half-man half-wolf mutants of the Onyx pack. Before the mutants were able to harm Shay too bad, Travis Hunter (former alpha of the Hunter Ridge pack) leaped to the rescue - literally. Shortly after they get back to his cabin and she is healed, her first heat cycle slams into her. Unable to deny his attraction and hoping it is more than her heat cycle, Travis doesn't resist when she attacks him. He knows he has met his true mate, but the next morning she is still unsure.

Run along with Shay and Travis as they try to protect Ashwood Falls. Meet Travis' daughter Josie. Will Shay claim Travis as hers? Her tiger accepted him right away, but will she? Will her over protective father and brothers? Ashwood Falls already has 2 alphas, will Travis fit in? Give this book a try and you will find out!

Favorite quote: "You don't love me. You don't even know me. How can you just accept it?"

I really loved Travis he is a Alpha and hasn't had it easy with his pack destroyed and keeping his mother and daughter hidden. He meets and saves his true mate Shayna from a attack but needs to convice her to accept and bond with him. Now this i loved even though he was Alpha and wanted to bond and claim, he was willing to wait for Shayna was ready and willing to bond with him and not force it.
Shayna wants her independance and is suffocating in overprotectiveness, she runs to feel free which leads to her attack but also to her true mate then she goes into her first heat so isn't sure of her feelings or if its just the heat, then she is sure if she is ready for a mate, but her mate has a ready made family and they all draw her in a win her over, she is a very caring person.
Really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one

This is an unusual read for me in the fact that there are some things that didn’t quite click with me as well as others in this story, but I really did enjoy it overall. Does that make sense? Let me see if I can explain…

This is the story of Shayna, and she is an adopted white tiger shifter. Cool, right? I thought so too. She’s been adopted by a leopard shifter family, and the patriarch happens to also be the pack Alpha. Even cooler. So in a way, Shayna is like a princess. That means lots of males in her life looking over her shoulder, and just being protective. That’s all well and good until you want some space, which Shayna does. So she takes off on a run. Heck, who can blame her? Well, that’s until she runs into trouble in the form of some rogue mutant shifters. The way these guys are explained depicts them as kind of gross, in my opinion. They are shifters, but they are stuck in midshift – permanently.

The thing that didn’t quite gel with me is that these guys are the big bad. They’ve got the whole area on alert. It’s a repetitive thing throughout the story. But for the most part, there isn’t really a lot to do with them. A couple fights, a battle… but nothing in any real detail. I really would have liked to see more, because they truly sound like the bad guys – and I just love that. I don’t want to always be able to sympathize and um, be turned on, by the bad guy.

Luckily someone comes to rescue Shayna, and that would be Travis. Well hello single daddy wolfen sexy man! I really liked Travis. Strong and sweet, and Alpha. I swear, you just say Alpha and I begin to drool. Shayna and Travis hit it off pretty well pretty early. I love the “Mine” shifter mentality, and Travis and Shayna don’t disappoint. I also thought it was wicked awesome that he is a wolf, she is a tiger, and her family is leopards. See, we all can get along!

Travis’ daughter, Josie, is a four year old ball of fun. The girl really stole the show at some points, and I found myself caring for this girl quickly and easily. She’s just one addition to this great cast of characters. I really liked Blaine, Shayna’s brother. But I can say that I wish some of these characters had more background. There were times when I felt like I was jumping in the middle of a series, rather than the first book.

Overall this was a light and fun read. There were many elements to this story that I thought were great additions – like magic and inherent powers. I can easily say I am looking forward to seeing more of this series in the future!

    Unique World!

Lovers of paranormal romance will be completely drawn into Lia Davis’s unique world filled with various kinds of shifters: tigers, jaguars, leopards, wolves, and mutants. Along with the developing her paranormal world, the author creates two memorable protagonists, Shayna and Travis.

Alpha female and tiger shifter Shayna, frustrated at being suffocated by her family, takes off for a long run and finds herself in mortal danger. Her savior comes in the form of a lone wolf, Travis. Travis knows that he has found his true mate in Shayna, but Shayna is not convinced. The author does a marvelous job of building a solid relationship between Travis and Shayna and not just a relationship based on sex. Well-crafted secondary characters, Josie, Travis’s daughter from a previous relationship and Robyn, Travis’s mother, help to further nourish the love between Travis and Shayna. The bond that builds between Shayna and Josie shows Shayna’s maternal side, which was just. Even though Travis is an alpha wolf, his strong love for his daughter and his strong need to know Shayna show his sensitive side, making him a hero to cheer for. When Shayna and Travis are intimate, their scenes are sizzling hot.

In addition to Travis and Shayna’s love story, Davis develops a complex plot with the members of Ashwood Pack, Shayna’s pack, and their enemy, the Onyx Pack, effectively setting up future novels in this new series. With all of these various elements working on multiple levels, A Tiger’s Claim is an engrossing, page-turning first novel in the Ashwood Falls series that provides a wonderfully romantic conclusion while also leaving the reader wanting the next story in this series.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of an honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Lia pens "A Tiger's Claim", a paranormal romance filled with shifters, magick and some steamy scenes thrown in and it picks up right where the first book "Winter Eve" left off. As usual Lia brought her characters to life but I do recommend that you read the first book in the 'Ashwood Falls' series so your not to lost. Highly recommended for all who love the paranormal romance genre and shifters.

Great Hero But a Bit Weak in Other Areas

As the start to a new series, there's a lot of info and characters introduced in A Tiger's Claim that make for an intriguing addition to the paranormal genre. With so much going on, the story sometimes gets a bit bogged down and overwhelmed at times. Overall though the characters and world-building that Ms. Davis puts forth are engaging with a storyline that is at times sexy and action-packed while showing the importance of family.

Shay's bloodline is of the Onyx, the enemy to the shifter families permeating the story, but after being left behind she's been adopted into the Ashwood Falls clan. Her old family wants her back so her new family is very protective or her, and as her heat cycle gets closer, she gets more frustrated by their smothering nature. Her adoptive family was right to be concerned as an attack on her completely changes her future as the wolf shifter who saves her ends up being her true Mate which creates even bigger issues.

Travis was once the Alpha of his own pack before it was destroyed by the Onyx. All that's left is his daughter and mother who he's kept in hiding. He couldn't turn Shay away in her hour of need though and now has to convince her of their being Mates even though she fights it every step of the way. Travis has lost someone he loved before so he's extremely protective now. He believes in love whereas Shay is more doubting. He's used to being an Alpha but respects the new family/pack he's joined as Shay's Mate and becomes an integral part in fighting for their safety as they fight to cure his daughter, another victim of the Onyx. He's a wonderfully sexy hero whose time with Shay resulted in numerous steamy sexual interludes.

Shay doesn't believe she and Travis are true Mates and constantly fights her feelings. She tries to keep it as just sex but as she gets closer to his daughter she can't ignore the truth any longer....they're a family. As a self-professed princess she tends to do as she pleases and can be a bit melodramatic which frustrated me at times. It puts her in harms way more often than not and ultimately leads to a dramatic showdown with the Onyx that puts much of her pack in jeopardy.

Ms. Davis has created an intriguing story featuring many different kinds of shifters, and a human or two, who come together through familial ties with each willing to die for the other. The nefarious plans of the Onyx are not always clear and the large cast of characters can be overwhelming at times, but I still found myself drawn to it mostly because of the sexy Travis. This world of magic and shifters is an entertaining one that I look forward to seeing more of in the future.

A Tiger's Claim (Ashwood Falls #1) by Lia Davis
Lia Davis has written a story around tiger and wolf shifters’ which is one of my favorite’s types of novels to read. Lia Davis is a first time author for me and I am very glad I was given the opportunity to read A Tiger’s Claim. Lia’s writing is good, her descriptions are well written the story line flows smoothly and I definitely would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys reading about shifters.
We are introduced to Shayna who is feeling overwhelmed by her father and brothers, they are all very protective of Shayna and sometimes she feels like she cannot breath. Keeping very close tabs on Shayna is driving her crazy, so after an argument with her over bearing Alpha father she runs off by herself. Feeling free running through the woods help Shayna clear her head. Off course nothing is that easy and Shayna runs into trouble. Knowing at this point she is in big trouble she is relieved when someone steps in to help her. Travis Hunter who is close by hears and knows someone is in trouble, stepping in to save Shayna from the rouges is something he knows he has to do.
Travis brings the injured tiger shifter home to keep her safe and take care of her injuries. While fixing her up he realizes that Shayna is his true mate. Shayna who happens to be going through her first heat cycle cannot explain what she is feeling at the moment because of her cycle and really is not sure about this mate thing. Being so protected all her life she is not really sure she is ready for another overbearing male in her life.
A Tiger’s Claim is full of over bearing male shifters, romance, mystery and passion, a great beginning to a new series.
I have rated A Tiger’s Claim a 4 star rating and recommend anyone to pick up this novel and you will definitely not be disappointed with the story or Lia Davis writing.

A Tiger's Claim is book one in the Ashwood Falls series however there is a book 0.5, Winter Eve, and I while not necessary I would recommend reading it before A Tiger's Claim.

Lia Davis creates a unique world in which the wolf shifters and the leopard shifters have united as one pack to defend themselves from a rouge pack. In this world Shayna Andrews is the adopted daughter of the pack Alpha. She has always been treated as a princess and she is finding it smothering. When she gets upset and takes a long run she finds herself in a bad situation being attacked by the enemy. Enter our hero Travis Hunter, Travis was the alpha of a pack that was destroyed by the rouge pack. He just wants to protect his family. When he does a good deed and helps Shayna he gets a lot more than he bargained for when she turns out to be his true mate.

Ms. Davis gives us action, mystery, love and mating sex, it is a griping story line with plenty of secondary characters that are as fascinating as the main hero and heroine. The dynamics of the mixed pack, an adopted shifter of another breed, the former alpha of a decimated pack along with family dynamics, new relationship dynamics and hiding the secret of shifters from the world all works into a very enjoyable read that will leave you ready for the next in the series.

Shayna is a princess who doesn't want to be. Adopted by the Alpha of the Ashwood Pack, Shayna fears her link to the rogue Onyx pack. She bares their mark, a brand she's had since infancy.Shayna longs for freedom... freedom from responsibility and a loving, but overbearing family.

She is so isolated that she isn't even sure of herself when she meets her mate. And when she learns his history she is terrified of what his reaction to her brand will be.

I loved Travis' little girl and his wonderful mother. It was great to see Shayna finally come into her own. I am really enjoying the Ashwood series and can't wait for the next book.

I truly enjoyed this book! Shayna is an alpha's only daughter, really adopted daughter! Between he father and brothers she is very overprotective to a point she feels smothered! They all know her every move at all times! After a fight with her father she runs away but encounters members of the Onyx pack, they want her for her powers to help destroy all the other packs! Travis Hunter happens to be near by, who happens to be hunting for the Onyx pack because they killed off all his pack except his mother and daughter! He manages to save Shayna but not before she is fatally injured! After spending time with Shayna he discovers she is he is true mate, the problem lies in the fact Shayna wants freedom not commitment and especially to an alpha male! They find out his daughter is deathly ill, make it to Shayna's  Pack safely and help defeat the Onyx Pack before they defeat them all while saving his daughter and working through a relationship! This book took twist and turns I never saw coming! It was wonderfully written and kept you turning page after to find out what was going to happen next! I can't wait for more in this series!
