Overview

It’s the eve before Christmas Eve, and all that twenty-three-year-old Landry has on the agenda for the holiday is moping in the bar that he left everything behind to open.

And he’s got plenty to mope about.

He found his girlfriend treating herself to a little holiday delight with his best friend;
He hasn’t seen his family in over a year- since he alienated them all and ended up spending a night in jail;
And he may have just ruined the perfect, uncomplicated thing he had going with his platonically hot roommate, Mila.

Drinks all around!

But when he gets a call from his sister, Paisley, begging him to make it home for a huge announcement, he tosses aside his better judgment, (or, what’s left of it after that last round of drinks) and hops on the first train back home to Jersey.

But home for the holidays isn’t all mugs of cocoa and fireside chats with his family.
Landry left the people he loves the most high and dry when he fled to Boston and spent all of his inheritance…the inheritance money that he was supposed to use to help save his family’s floundering bar.

His dad will hardly look at him, his ex is maybe stalking him, his sister has dropped a bombshell on the family, and a flame from the past catches his eye. When Landry’s present and near past collide, it only further complicates things.

Landry thought he was leaving all of his problems behind when he left his family in New Jersey. But he comes home to find out that problems, like family, never go away. And sometimes facing the past with the help of someone who’s fearless about the future is the only way to move on.

Cheers?

    What can I say about this book? Hmmm....I'll start with: I loved Mila! She completely made this book for me. Second: I adore the writing style of both authors. Lastly: It was simply a lovely holiday read. It signifies everything that the holidays should represent; forgiveness, family, love, and hope.

    I tend to get pretty swoony over the male characters in books. Shocking, right? And I DID like Landry in the end. However, I had a bit of trouble warming up to him at first. I think that was intentional though. Landry is a pretty self absorbed guy. He's made some mistakes with his family and doesn't always treat woman with respect. Not that he's a total jerk but he tends to be the love 'em and leave 'em type. I'll say that the turning point for me for liking him was when his sister called and asked him to come home. Despite his tension with his family, you could tell that he missed them and was making an effort to mend fences.

    Mila. I loved this chick! She's a nerdy hottie and completely perfect for Landry. Mila is his roommate and she's had feelings for Landry for a while despite his jerkiness. After a disastrous attempt at hooking up with Landry, she decides she needs to let go and move on. So, she goes to see him on Christmas Eve at his parents. What happens with Landry there surprises her. She expects him to be his usual dismissive self, but Landry's had a few "ah ha" moments since he's been home. While she's a bit reluctant, she's still excited about the possibility of a relationship with him. I have to say, that Landry did end up melting my heart a bit.

    I adored the relationship that Landry and Mila developed. It was hot and sweet. I also loved that Landry repaired his relationship with his family. I loved them. I think his brother and sister would both be interesting to read about. *hint*

    So, bottom line is this: if you are looking for a great holiday story that has some spice, this is a great book for you. If you are a fan of Liz Reinhardt and Steph Campbell, you will be very happy with this collaboration. I love both of these authors style's and highly recommend any of their books.
