Overview

From USA Today Bestselling Author, L. j. Charles:

Everly Gray’s past would have been laid to rest with her parents…if only she hadn’t opened an old letter and unleashed long-hidden secrets.

Now everything she believes in, everything she trusts, is gone. Except her genetic link to the secrets of an ancient toxin—lethal, unless she finds the antidote.

When those close to her are poisoned, and traditional medicine has run out of options, Everly’s one hope is to learn the magic of Hawaiian shamanism, and to accept her gifts as a Kahuna healer.

Free fall. No parachute. Until she learns to trust in the strength of who she is, and in the universal power of love.

Meet the Author

I have worked with energy, both as a yoga instructor and as a body worker for many years. When I left that profession, I was driven to write about energy and the paranormal. Many of the situations my heroines experience are created from my own encounters with energy, its power and possibilities.

As to the "writing," well, that started when I was eight and penned my first book on pink construction paper with a purple crayon. It was a romance that involved a princess, and although I remember very few details about the plot, I do remember that it was illustrated and there was music and dancing involved.

At about the same time I created my first story, I discovered Nancy Drew and my love for reading was born. It has only grown over the years, and I am rarely without a huge to-be-read stack, and a book within easy reach.

Now days I write award winning women's fiction and young adult novels. All of my stories combine romance, mystery, and paranormal elements. The paranormal, because it's a huge part of my life, the adventure and romance because I haven't ever outgrown my early reading adventures with Nancy, Ned, Bess and George.

I live in the frozen north with my husband, whose TBR stack is taller than mine, and two felines who have been known to add entire pages to a manuscript without telling me.

I liked the original story but have become increasingly disenchanted with the series. I don't like the fact that
this series is written as one continuous story. The books start and end abruptly unlike most series that have an actual beginning and end for each book. Some plot details are a stretch or annoying - in this book near its sudden end, we lose a year of her life with Mitch, and she doesn't talk to Pierce (supposedly a close friend) for a year even though the search for the toxins continues.....

This is the best Everly Gray book yet. I literally could not put it down until I was finished. The perfect mix of intrigue, mystery and romance to keep me coming back for more. Love this author and can't wait for the next book.

EXCITING!!! I almost wet my pants trying to get past a really exciting part of the story before I remembered I could take the Nook with me. Loved the way it ended so the next one can pick it up and continue the saga. Write quickly so we can continue to visit the lives of El, Pierce, Mitch, Annie, Sean and Adam.

Wedding bells and sniper shells and so many answers to find...

Wedding bells and sniper shells and so many answers to find...

While the love of her life, Mitch Hunt, is away on a photography mission, a 30 plus year old letter sends Everly Gray, El, flying to Hawaii to seek out a grandmother who has never been part of her life. It seems a simple enough goal until Tynan Pierce, super sexy spy and a personal friend, shows up to keep an eye on Everly. She is not thrilled; she knows that he is not sent out on ordinary babysitting missions--bodyguard or spy, friend or enemy?

El soon discovers that the secrets her parents tried to protect her from are landing right in her lap, and without enough information, they could get someone she loves killed. Flying bullets, hidden messages, startling images, and a lonely grave, not to mention tingles from Pierce who is NOT the love of her life, are more than she can handle alone. She calls for reinforcements in the form of her dear friend and Pierce’s ex-partner Annie. Annie arrives with some exciting and disturbing news, and jumps right into the chase with El and Pierce to prevent anyone from being able to create havoc with a toxin her mother discovered.

As Everly unearths information about her family secrets and more about her heritage than she could image, she must figure out how to access hidden powers to save the lives of more than one of her friends in this fast paced race to uncover more about her mother’s secrets.

Paranormal light meets romantic suspense spy thriller. To call this one light anything might be a misnomer, but there is just enough humor and friendship to balance the atmosphere of doom hovering throughout the novel. Love, love, love this riveting fourth book of the Everly Gray Adventures.
