College teacher Ellie Standish thinks she’s on a sleek modern train heading to a conference on women’s studies in Seattle, but she awakens from a night’s doze to find herself on a bizarre historical train full of late Victorian era reenactors who refuse to come out of character. College teacher Ellie Standish thinks she’s on a sleek modern train heading to a conference on women’s studies in Seattle, but she awakens from a night’s doze to find herself on a bizarre historical train full of late Victorian era reenactors who refuse to come out of character. When the leader of the group—one handsome, green-eyed Robert Chamberlain—finally convinces her the date is indeed 1901, a skeptical Ellie decries any eccentric theories of time travel and presumes she is smack dab in the middle of a very interesting historical dream. She turns the directorial reins of her dream over to one smitten and willing Robert, only to realize that dreams cannot last forever. Someday she must wake up to reality, though Ellie no longer has any idea what reality is. She only knows that Robert must play an important part in her future. But how can he...if he’s only a figment of her imagination or worse yet...a man who belongs to an era long past?

    I Also Recommend:

    Wonderful Read!!

Time travel romance is a genre I particularly love, and I'm very interested in the Victorian era, so I was drawn Bess McBride's A Train Through Time. When the modern-day heroine finds herself not on the modern train she'd boarded, but an old-style steam engine surrounded by people in Victorian dress, she thinks she's in the midst of a Victorian reenactment troupe. Later, as the falls for the handsome Victorian hero, she thinks it's all just a lovely dream.

If you're a fan of Victorian romance and love time travel stories as I do, you won't go wrong with this wonderful love story.

    Good but not riveting

This time travel story had holes big enough to drive a train through. Why would someone bring a disoriented stranger into their posh home?

I would give this book 10 stars if I could. Great time travel!!

I breezed through this book in 3 days. Over 600 pgs on my nook and worthy of your time. A woman travels 100 years back in time after falling asleep on a train. Turns out she meets her true love and is worried she'll return to her current life at any time where she is engaged but not in love. Is she dreaming of the future or dreaming of the past? Outstanding read! Great book for teens as well with no steamy scenes. I'm definitely looking into other books by this author. Very talented!

Ms. McBride did a wonderful job of transporting me back and fort

Ms. McBride did a wonderful job of transporting me back and forth through time with Ellie. I loved the characters and the descriptions of the clothes, furniture and people from past times were superb. Ms. McBride made me feel as if I was in Ellie’s shoes feeling, smelling and seeing everything through her eyes. I fell in love with Ellie because she was smart and beautiful and she deserved someone who would love her unconditionally. I also fell in love with Robert Chamberlain because he was intelligent, charismatic and handsome. I would definitely recommend this pleasant time travel story to other readers and this is a definite keeper in my library. Don’t pass this one up! Full review can be found at Night Owl Reviews. GOOD BOOK

I injoyed this story but thought it jumped around to much. One minute she was in the 1901 year, then with no warning she is in present day. Then she wakes in 1901 married and carrying a baby .Rushed ending could have been done better. L. M. A.

    A Romance Novel With Thought

I enjoyed this book. I expected a cheesy romance novel with time travel thrown in. This is more thoughtful than that and I found myself enjoying the characters and the questions that come up about them.

Number of pages in Nook book?

Bought it, but haven't read it yet. One reviewer said it was 600+ pages on her Nook. My free version was 179 pp. Listed, but actually was 317 pp. counted. It was 400+ kb. The version that costs 99 cents says it is 600+ kb. The bundle of 3 books is 1246 pp. listed. I wish bn would list number of pages instead of kb. Some mb books are less than 100 pages! Kooking forward to reading it, but don't when, (I already have 5000+ books now).

This is a great time travel romance story. I was I didn't want it to end. I did, however feel the end was a bit rushed.
