I liked the beginning the h was strong independent woman...but about nearly 60% way though the book I was beginning to be annoyed by the h. I mean how many times can she get pissed off about everything. And I understand taking care of herself but really the times are different. And for someone who was a cop she didn't have that many "instincts" like when she followed the guy around or near the end even I knew that even if someone is unconsious you don't leave a weapon or expect them to be out cold for hours on end. It seemed as soon as she got married she got boring and well "dependent" almost. I didn't like the book as much as I thought I would but that is just me. I thought it could have been better. Oh well. I am glad I only paid 99 cents for it. They did get their HEA though.
I'm not a english teacher by any means...but there were misspelled words in this book..I also didn't really feel there was much going on in this book..there was no humor, the romance was lacking...not enough passion for me.....this book was ok..it had so much more potential, it just fell flatt...it your looking for a great time travel with great passion try monica burns (can't remember the name off hand) or another great book is truce..those are awsome historical time travel..
A Tumble Through Time is the first book that I have read by Callie Hutton. Since this is a Time Travel Western, most of the book is spent in the past, the 1870's Kansas to be exact. I don't want to give too many spoilers, but be assured that this book is also a romance, so don't forget there will be a HEA. The story starts off with Callie Hutton in present day Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is currently staying with her best friend until her wedding to Robbie. Just a few days before the wedding, Callie comes home unexpectedly and finds her fiance and best friend together on the couch "naked as the day they were born." Robbie swears that this was a first time mistake; mainly due to stress and anxiety over the upcoming wedding. But Callie doesn't care and gathers the few things she has and leaves. After hiding out in a hotel room for a week, Callie knows that she needs to get her self together. Since she is currently on leave of absence pending an investigation into her charges of sexual harassment against her partner, from her job as a police officer, Callie has been doing some bounty hunter work, putting her law enforcement skills to good use. Callie goes down to Kansas to visit her Aunt Rose, who has dementia. Whenever Rose recognizes Callie, Rose asks for her sister. Callie is tasked with telling her that she died of breast cancer 2 years ago and then holding Rose while she breaks down. Each time is the first time all over again for Rose and Callie realizes that she isn't going to be able to keep doing this. As Callie is leaving the nursing home grounds, she realizes that she is now all alone in the world. So we have the perfect set up for time travel. Callie has no job, no place to live, and no attachments holding her back. This was a good story, with of details that showed that the author did her homework to make sure that the old west was authentic. Watching Callie try to navigate a world ruled by men, in a time before Woman's Suffereage has really taken hold was a lot of fun to watch. If you enjoy fish out of water stories you will enjoy this book. I gave this book 3 stars on Goodreads.
R.T. Wolfe Review of Callie Hutton’s A Tumble Through Time Callie Hutton has a special talent for plot building. She doesn’t disappoint all the way to the end of A Tumble Through Time. Wes is a tortured marshal in a rugged town of the 1870s. Anna is a feminist bounty hunter in current day times. When she is thrust back in time their paths meet like rhinos who can’t resist the underlying attraction they have for each other. Their love is addicting sweet as are the details of the different eras. Action, adventure and passion. Callie Hutton really knows her stuff. I was provided this manuscript for review purposes. No money exchanged hands. R.T. Wolfe, author of the Black Creek Series
A Tumble Through Time by Callie Hutton is a mystical romp back into a small frontier town in 1870. The Heroine Anna Devlin, discovering her fiancé's infidelity on the eve of her wedding is unable to accept his treachery. She feels her life is a failure and without meaning. But through magical manipulation she is drawn from 2013 to the wild west and is instantly attracted to the chivalrous and very dashing Marshal Wes. Her eventual acceptance of the peculiar situation she finds herself in and the eternal passion she feels for Wes drives through the book. Beautifully written, the story makes you live alongside Anna and Wes and are cheering them on their way to their inevitable romance. A family of miscreants blights their love but all is not simple in the lovely twist that brings A Tumble in Time to its passionate conclusion. Callie Hutton makes you believe in the Wild West and wish you were in Anna's shoes as she fall heads over heels with the handsome Wes. An excellent read which drives along with gusto.
Wild West Time-Travel adventure OMG, I just finished reading "A Tumble Through Time" by Callie Hutton! It is a time travel romance from the future back in the Wild West of 1870’s. This is the first book that I read written by this writer and I really enjoyed reading it! I love time travel romance! Beware, once you start, you will not be able to put it down. Ms. Hutton created two charming characters, Marshall Wesley Shannon, a handsome alpha male sheriff and Anna Devlin, an outspoken and gutsy woman! Anna, was a modern day woman, who was jilted by her fiancé and was awaiting for a hearing to gain her job back as a bounty hunter. She had lost her job because of a sexual harassment charges she made against her partner. All her life, she had felt betrayed by men and had decided to start a new life. Wesley, Wes, has his own demons as a Marshal and was suffering from PTSD. The adventure begins, when Anna encounters an old Native woman and is time travelled in 1870 where she meets the handsome Wesley. Sparks will flare between this headstrong woman and this wild and over protective cowboy! Will they ignite a lasting love? I do not want to give you any more details, because you really need to read this romantic Wild West adventure! Callie Hutton has created a charming time-travel filled with humour and sexual chemistry. These stories are not easy to write, because of the transition between the two periods. It is very well written. I liked the end of the story, so much, that I highly suggest this book if you love Time-travel romances. I loved the characters and their relationship, and I really liked the time period! I will definitely be reading more books by Callie Hutton. I giggle out loud when I read some scenes, they are cute and funny because of the time difference It is also a fast-paced adventure. A great refreshing summer read!
