The letters describe a searing and illicit affair between the author's ancestor Andrea Memmo, a great Venetian statesman, and a beautiful half-English girl named Giustiniana Wynne. Flying in the face of morality, the couple pursued their passion with reckless abandon, offending nearly everyone, and even getting some help along the way from the infamous Casanova. In gambling dens, glitzy ballrooms, decadent salons and private rooms, the lovers thrived on their secret trysts and schemed to preserve their timeless romance.

    WOW! What an UNFORGETABLE BOOK!!!!

This book was one that I will not forget. A Ventian Affair shows the trails and tribulations through a relationship of two young adults. Their families do not approve of each of them having a relationship with each other. So they forced to see each other in private. They communicate to each other through letters and plan to see each other by telling each other where they are going to be at what time. After years of trying to be together, and trying to get married secretly they end up having to make a hard decision of only. . . well being friends. At this point of the book I was so disappointed, not the ending that I was hoping for. A major message I got from the book was to pursue your dreams and do what your heart tells you. Do not let other people influence your decisions to the point were it makes them happy. I really enjoyed the love story in the book and finding out everything the young couple did to just see or talk to each other. One thing that I disliked about the book was reading the footnotes just to understand one simple event that happened. Another part of the book that I did not like was the ending, just a little disappointing to me, but do not take my word for it. If you are a person that loves to read a good romance book that has a little bit of a history lesson and has a twist at the end you should read A Venetain Affair.

    Made me Weep

This book was wonderful. I couldn't put it down. The love story between these two was reminscent of Romeo and Juliet. I hope that more information is discovered conserning their affair. I completely neglected all my homework, just to read this book.
