    Exciting Paranormal Mystery

The latest in Blackwell's Witchcraft Mystery series finds Lily Ivory going up against a malevolent spirit trapped in an ancient tree. As always, I love the relationship between Lily and Oscar, and the supporting cast is great. It was nice to see Calypso again, and to finally learn the identity of Lily's guardian spirit (I hope we learn more about her).

Highly recommended to fans of previous books in the series. -- lyradora

    Loved

This was a great read! Sixth in the series of wonderful books. I don't know if Ms. Blackwell is planning a seventh, but I sure hope so. Lily ges more powerful in each book and hasn't reached her best, so I feel there will be more.

A Great Read in a Great Series by a Great Writer! Strongly Rec

A Great Read in a Great Series by a Great Writer! Strongly Recommend! Just finished reading this book which is the latest addition to Juliet Blackwell's "A Witchcraft Mystery" series and I enjoyed it immensely! Starting the book I felt that I was immediately drawn back into a circle of old friends whom I haven't been with for a while. The characters and dialogue are what draw me to this series. A good story well told doesn't hurt either! Juliet has a knack for writing a series without becoming formulaic like some authors do. The action moves quickly and doesn't get stuck anywhere. I enjoyed seeing so many old characters in this book without burdening the story with their entry. It's like walking down a busy street and bumping into someone without interrupting your day. I strongly recommend "A Vision in Velvet" for anyone looking for a fun mystery with a touch of the supernatural thrown in! I also liked that I think I saw a few hints of future storylines in this book. So, if you haven't read the earlier ones then I recommend you do because it looks like some great new stories are coming down the line from Juliet! Full disclosure: I buy Juliet's books out of my own pocket and these are my opinions!

This is the 6th book in Juliet's Witch Craft Series. After purch

This is the 6th book in Juliet's Witch Craft Series. After purchasing an old trunk from an aged antique dealer Lily is surprised to find that it contains old clothes, which are all unusable. Except for one thing, at the very bottom of the trunk is a heavy gold cape. When Lily tries the cape on she is taken from this world to a time she can't yet describe. When the elderly man is found dead, Lily is surprised to find that it contains old clothes, which are all unusable. Except for one thing, at the very bottom of the trunk is a heavy gold cape. When Lily tries the cape on she is taken from this world to a time she can't yet describe. When the elderly man is found dead, Lily is positive that her purchase of the trunk and the old gentleman's death has a connection. Only after allowing herself to put the cape back on, and wear it long enough to see where it takes her, will Lily be able to solve the latest mystery in her life.
I find it no mystery that I enjoy Juliet's books so much. For some reason, I had always steered clear of paranormal-ish books, but read one on the advice of my librarian, and am very glad I did.

A good imagination is needed and interesting reading

A little slow in the first few chapters, then your interest is sparked and it really takes off and becomes very interesting. Interest in witchcrasf isn't for everyone but this turns out to be intertaining.

Who would have thought that buying a trunk full of old moldy clo

Who would have thought that buying a trunk full of old moldy clothes would lead to so much trouble? When Lily is invited over to Sebastian's shop to see if she was interested in buying a trunk full of vintage clothes, she almost turned him down because the vintage clothes were practically dust. But something in the bottom of the trunk sparked a magical feeler so she agreed to buy the lot. Getting it back to the store, she discovers a velvet cape that when wrapped around her shoulders transports her back to voices and a mob scene. Before she can investigate it further, her friend Conrad seeks her help with his petition to prevent the chopping down of an ancient tree in the park. But when she goes with Conrad to the tree, she is shocked to find a dying Sebastian. Is there a connection with the trunk and his death? And before she can find the link, her precious familiar, Oscar, vanishes into the ancient tree. Between finding her familiar, coping with Sebastian's murder, and analyzing the scene played out by the velvet cape, is Lily's magic able to handle all of this? I love the diversity of characters in this series, from Lily to her boyfriend, Sailor, to her friends in the shop. Although Lily has always thought of herself as a loner, with each book in the series, she finds herself with more and more friends and help mates with her magical dilemmas. I am looking forward to reading the next Witchcraft Mystery. Disclosure: I was provided an advance reading copy in exchange for an honest review.
