a great read for first time mom or dad foster parents

i like how this book talks about what kinds of things she did with the kids and the outcome of it. we think we go on vacation everything will be smooth and relaxing. as mary relized, her vaction didn't go 100% the way she wanted it. even if these kids were a handful, she never gave up on those kids. i respect her for that.

I TOOK A WALK IN MARY'S SHOES WHEN I READ THIS BOOK

FOSTER CARE IS A VERY SENSITIVE JOB WHILE CARING FOR OTHERS THAT ARE ALREADY SET IN THEIR OWN WAYS. AS A FOSTER PARENT MYSELF, I FOUND THIS BOOK TO BE VERY IMPORTANT AND HELPFUL. IT'S NICE TO HEAR ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE'S JOUNEY.

    more from this reviewer

A MUST READ: MARY TALKS ABOUT HER JOURNEY AND KNOWLEDGE FROM 35+ YEARS OF FOSTER PARENTING.

I WAS ONE OF HER FOSTER CHILDREN AND I CAME FROM A BROKEN HOME. TO THIS DAY SHE IS STILL THE ONE I CLAIM AS MY MOTHER. I CALL HER MOM, AND I TITLE HER AS MY MOM. I DON'T SAY I'M GOING TO MY FOSTER MOM'S HOME TO DO SO AND SO; NO, I SAY I AM GOING TO MY MOM'S HOME.

SHE IS SO FUNNY. MY MOM HAS LIGHT BROWN SKIN AND I HAVE WHITE. PEOPLE WOULD ASK "HOW IS SHE YOUR DAUGHTER"? AND MY MOM WOULD TELL THEM "HER DADDY BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH" };-D WHEN I CAME TO MAMA'S HOME, I HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT THIS WOMAN WOULD LATER LEAVE ON MY LIFE.

HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS BOOK WRITTEN BY THIS REMARKABLE WOMAN
