Romance, suspense, fantasy and sex . Who could ask for more? Calinda B has written a truly unique story that sucked me in from the first paragraph. I highly relate to the heroine of the story...her innocence and inability to protect herself. At the end of the novel, Cherie is finally able to stand up for herself and one of the male protagonists gets his comeuppance. I'm torn between Cam and Kayden just like Cherie is. This novel has an ending in itself, but I'm anxious to read the rest of the trilogy and the short story that continue the "Wicked" series.

A Wicked Awakening by Calinda B is the story of a woman named Cherie who finds out that her sexual energy helps balance the forces of the universe. But it also is a beautiful love story, and the story of a woman’s self-discovery and transformation. Cherie is a likable and relatable heroine (although I didn’t like her nickname of “Cheerio” at all), and her relationships with Cam and later Kayden felt authentic and real. This book has it all… love, danger, secrets, magic, sex, you name it. There was GREAT chemistry between all the characters and I found myself being totally lost in the story and sad when it was over, but happy that there were more books in the series! Was this review helpful? A wonderful book for reading on those cold winter nights! A steamy story with an engaging plot that keeps you interested from beginning to end. Cherie Manhattan is an aerobics instructor who gets a weird visitor to her class one day, and discovers her life will change and that she is “special”. As in, center of the universe special. While this premise may seem a little far-fetched, somehow the author manages not only to pull it off with grace and style, but make it a believable storyline that leaves you wanting more. There were a few instances of minor editing glitches, and a few punctuation things, but overall an impressive job that kept my interest from beginning to end. For the mature crowd only. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Amazing!! This is one of the most unexpectedly awesome books I’ve read in a looong time. To be totally honest, at first I wasn’t sure I’d like it because I had a hard time figuring out what it was about from the description, as it sounded like nothing I’d ever read before. Well, I was right in the sense that it was so unique and original, it really was unlike anything I’d read, and in a good way!! It had so many interesting plot twists and was HOT and SEXY!!! Once I got into the book it was impossible to put down, and once I finished I immediately picked up the next one!! A must read for fans of erotic and paranormal. Was this review helpful? Calinda B…what a wonderful weaver of tales she is. I could never have imagined such a tapestry of eroticism, romance, mystery and science fiction/fantasy. I started reading science fiction fantasy at age 14, so I’ve been a fan for many years. This is some of the best. Add to that some of the most intensely erotic writing I have ever read, and I can’t put her books down.
Calinda’s depiction of Tantric love is lush, deep and poetic. As a student of Tantra myself, I am impressed and captivated by her description of how sharing deep heart-centered energy can lead to wild, ecstatic bliss.
I would love to dance through the galaxies and burst into stars as her characters, Cam, Kayden and Cherie do.
The characters are developed splendidly, especially Cherie and Cam, who are each on a journey of self discovery. In the beginning of the first book, each are plagued with self doubt, victims of their early lives, unable to connect intimately. As they grow, they gain self knowledge and a kind of power that is magical. There is nothing static about them.
Cherie’s personal journey is especially moving, as she discovers and confronts her own experience of sexual abuse. I salute Calinda for her courage in putting this on paper. So many women who remain mute about their own similar experiences could gain permission to heal by reading “A Wicked Awakening.”
I can’t wait to finish book two, “A Wicked Beginning,” and move on to Book Three, “A Wicked Whispering!”

This book started a little slow for me but the farther I got into the book the better it got. I finished it in a short amount of time. I love the relationship between Cam and Cherie it is great. Cherie's up and downs thoughtout the book are will written and true to form. The way she struggles and recaims herself is wonderful. I highly recommand this book. Was this review helpful? I must admit - the first few chapters of this book I thought Cherie, the main character, was annoying and I didn't think I would make it to the end of the book. But wait! Weird things start happening and you soon learn there is more to this woman than meets the eye. I liked how all the characters take interesting turns in their development. This would be a great beach read and if you don't have a beach, imagine sitting on the shore of a lake surrounded by mountains, deep in the forest - don't forget to bring the book. Was this review helpful?
