This novel was amazing, but I have to just say that I don’t really like these covers at all, so this is a perfect example of not judging a book by their covers because the stories themselves are great and totally worth a read! It gets right into the story of Cam having weird dreams, foreshadowing what is in store for him. He’s over Angels, but still very much hung up on Cherie. Poor guy…his hot as hell girlfriend develops a sexual superpower then dumps him. He is being followed by a star dreamling, and his destiny is calling. A fascinating read from cover to cover. Erotic and moving descriptions…the author Calinda B has an amazing way with words that is downright hypnotizing at times. Highly recommend to fans of romance, erotica, fantasy/paranormal…heck, anyone who wants a well written and addictive story unlike any they’ve ever read before. Was this review helpful? Lately I have been disappointed with a few series that I have read, because I’ll really like the first book and be all excited for the next, only to find that it falls flat or the author has deviated from the original formula too much. But I was thrilled to see that this wasn’t the case with “A Wicked Awakening”! If anything, I liked this one even better, probably because I already knew the characters and story from the first book, and there wasn’t all the “getting to know you” stuff. This book is a part of a series and I don’t think it would really work all that well as a standalone, but the first book is great, so go try it!! This is definitely not some vapid, empty novel, but ones that make you think in a different way. I appreciated the intelligence and “wicked” creativity of the author, and can’t wait to read the next one!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I very much enjoyed the first book of this series, and was not sure how the next one would be. But I’m happy to say that I thought this one was even better! I thought the pacing was better and the narrative tighter. It seems like the author really hit her stride with this one and the creativity is simply astounding. I read A LOT of paranormal/fantasy romances and I can’t think of any that are like these books. This story is more about Cam and his special “awakening”, but Cherie is still very much a focus of the book as well, along with some interesting new characters. I am really enjoying this series and am impressed with the author, Calinda B’s writing. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. A Wicked Beginning is the second book in the Wicked Series by Calinda B. I loved the first one, “A Wicked Awakening”, and was super excited to read this one as soon as possible. Well, it did not disappoint! If I gave “A Wicked Awakening” 5 stars, I want to give “A Wicked Awakening” 6!!! I loved how it was told mostly from Cam’s perspective this time (although we still see Cherie’s and other’s too), and I thought it was just as original and unpredictable as the first. Warning, do not start reading these if you have somewhere to be because these books are loooong and you will want to savor ever delicious page!! Can’t wait to read #3, “A Wicked Whispering”!!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first. Calinda B continues her Awakening series with a focus on Cam, Cheré's ex-boyfriend. The author takes Cam on a journey of self-discovery, both emotionally and spiritually (not to mention pushing some buttons related to his sexuality -- is Cam about to have a three-way??)
I like that there are hints that all the characters have some level of the paranormal within themselves. We're introduced to some new other-worldly creatures and spirit realms-- I especially like how she incorporates Native American mythology and rituals in this book.
It's definitely a sexy read, but if you scratch below the surface, it's clear that the author understands erotic energy and its use as transformative power.
Most of all it's a fun read and I'm anxious for the next installement.
