Overview

Lady Catherine Dunleavy arrived in London from Dublin to confront her negligent guardian, only to find the man has abandoned his Countess, and the three orphans left in his care. Her sister offers her condolences for the tragedy that has killed their parents and sanctuary, but little else in the way of help. The Earl has made plans to set aside his Countess and has petitioned for divorce. Scandalous and as unheard of as it is, Catherine realizes without Lord Iverleigh's help, her and her two young brothers are destitute.
Her sister Lilly seems content to sit back and give Lord Iverleigh his way, but Catherine has other ideas. The shockingly wicked solution to end his plans of divorce and remarriage to his illustrious mistress gives Catherine the idea. Steal him away from the widow and spurn him, and give her sister the chance she needs to reconcile with her husband. But Gabriel is not the man Catherine was led to believe, and after enjoying his tender passions, she comes to see the man that he truly is.
Honest and noble to a fault, the handsome nobleman Gabriel St. Armand has seen his share of heartache at the hands of his treacherous wife. He rescues the raven-haired beauty from life in a brothel, only to discover a woman who reignites his heart's desire. Determined now to be free of his Countess and to be with Catherine, he has no idea his steps to free himself further imperil them both.
Nicholas Van Ryker is a smuggler and adventurer, and unlikely best friend to Gabriel. He obsesses over the green-eyed beauty his friend stole beneath his nose, determined to ignore the feelings she ignites within him. Gabriel asks him to follow his new mistress and divine her many secrets. Nicholas agrees, led by the memory of a stirring kiss shared in a quiet garden. He discovers Catherine is deceiving his friend and offers terms to keep his silence. He thinks one day with her spent in his bed will make him forget the lush beauty he cannot get from his mind.
The Countess's game is in play. Lilly is not about to give up her place as Gabriel's wife. Determined and cunning, she has thought of everything to reach her goals, even sacrificing the sister who unknowingly aids her.
From the smoke-filled boudoirs of London's most notorious brothel to the drawing rooms of the nobility, comes a tale of murder, blackmail, and unquenchable passions. On a windswept island a new love is born and is tested by the unseen ghosts of the past.
Catherine is haunted by a love she cannot forget and a man who owns her soul. Forced to choose, she must follow her heart at last.

I loved loved loved this book. It is really hard to find a good book to read and the fact that it was free was even better. The authors writing reminded me of Bertrice Small earlier work. I like the way she worked the love triangle. Both men are honorable but have their faults. It wasn't a clear cut choice for the heroine. I can wait for the next book to find out how everything comes together. alot of questions left unanswered.

With 1185 pages, this story is packed full of well developed characters, murder, blackmail and hot sex. Very well written and can't wait for the next book to this story!

I really liked this book. It kept me guessing as to how it was going to end, ususally I know how a book its going to end before i read the ending. It was refreshing. Hope the next books comes out soon.

This book had way too many different plots to follow, too many horrors befall the heroine yet she manages to survive child birth that basically leaves her feverish and bleeding profusely complicated with a bullet to the head and a dive in frigid water. One of the main heroes is an utter jerk and the plots are so complicated it gives you a headache to try and follow. It is not surprising this book is free

Honestly, it was 100,000 words too long. There was no detail in anything other than clothes and the men, the same description of the men, over and over. The story COULD have had something there but it was lost in all of the people and how NOTHING seamlessly blended together. It was as if the author just say AA HA! THAT WOULD BE COOL! and wrote it down. I found the Main Character extremely annoying, and the males were no better. Loving someone isn't sleeping with a mistress...even back in the day. The only saving grace was the author did make a villain you could hate, but she was so over the top that it was very unbelievable and distracted from the story. There was no subtly to the villain, Liliane, and even a naive little sister would have instantly seen through the BS in the beginning so it made the main character hard to root for because she was so blah and unintelligent.

Too many complicated plots. Some parts did not make sense, and there were way too many grammatical errors! Where was your editor? Could have been a good story and written in 350 pages.

This is one of the best free books I have read. I would like to see this book made into a movie. This book has everything thing in it for a reader to sit back and enjoy. I could not put this book down. Highly recommend.

I loved this book! I couldnt put my nook down to save my own life while reading it! The characters were great. The two main men in the story made me hate them one minute and love them the next. You also develop a true hatred for Lilly! When I first started reading I was a little overwhelmed about the page count being at a whopping 1185! But I flew through it because it was such a great story with so many twists it kept you interested. Amazing book that I would recommend to everyone!

The story was very long. It's plot started off okay but just got weird. No lady could be that beautiful that evry man that sees her falls for her. They make one of the main characters be so smart then so dumb when it comes to his coniving wife. Come on... the sad thing was it was so weird i had to read it through

I loved this book. This is the second book of the authors I have read. I only have one issue with it as I did her last book. I really hate how she has ended this book I was disappointed with ending as I was with the ending of Taken.

I loved this book. I think anybody who doesn't obviously likes traditional predictable books with 'missionary' aims and outcomes. I think the characters are SUPPOSED to be bad. Look at the title! I read some of the reviews and laughed. I read it in like one day and lost sleep. It's not boring at all and for the other reviews who say it is, consider the source. They expected a Harlequin obviously. Found minor errors I found in print books. All in all a GREAT read and escape. Her second book in this series is AWESOME too. So don't be a hater. LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT! So there to you one star haters, virgin-hording, Harlequin level freaks who didn't.

I struggled to read this book and couldn't wait to reach the end, just so it would be OVER!. While I enjoy a book with twists and turns, this one had a lot of things that just seemed implausible. I found it very confusing, and just didn't enjoy reading it. I will say the overall storyline, was somewhat interesting. But this is not a book I'd recommend. The writing is so-so (not great, not horrible), and the characters seem to be all over the place (not true to themselves throughout the entire book). It appears there will be a follow-up book, as the writer left it open to that possibility, but I won't be wasting my time with it.

It was great. Lilly was a b****! Perfect character you hate. The men that fall in love with catherine you feel yourself hating one minute and loving them the next! I look forward to the next book! Thanks to the author!

I normally dont write reviews but this book was soooo good!! It was soo hard to put my nook down. I can't beleive it was free. This is a must read. The author left the ending open so i know their will be a 2nd to this book and i can't wait!!!

I liked the idea of this story but felt it dragged on for too long with too many unnecessary details. I also did not like how the scenes jumped so quickly that I was confused on what was happening. I think this book would be even better if it were edited for grammatical errors and cut down by a couple of hundred pages. I would also like the main character Catherine to show some more backbone I felt that after a third of the book she became more of a background character.

I love almost all romance novels. This seemed poorly written and so drawn out and convoluted. It just wouldn't end. Will not be reading anymore by this author.

Your heroine, after pointing out how well she did in her studies turns out to be completely ignorant and has no common sence. The hero or should i ask which one? Are all no good. One rapes her. Another refuses to let her see her son using the child as leverage. A third guy appears at the end with more issues. The woman can not decide who she loves truely she has no control over anything. No redeming qualities except she is nice and somewhat innocent and a victim but you still hate her. Seriously this tale is so outragious, one will beat their nook upon their head asking why did they read such a book. After reading this i have to wonder what the hell is wrong with the author? The book isn't even finished there is a second one.

This is a horrible book, I cannot believe I wasted my time one it..At one point I thought I should give up, but I hate giving up, I should have gone with my first instinct... and now I read that there is another book and that all they do is cheat on each other.. horrible.. what is wrong with people.

Though I admit it took me a while to get into this book it was a great read. The characters are rich and detailed and makes you want a follow up of "their" story

I really enjoyed this book! I do admit it was a little longer than it should have been, but in the end it was a very good book with a great amount of detail.

I am 369 pages in and I don't see myself finishing it. The main character, who is meant to be spirited, comes across as a ditz at times and obstinate at others. The character dynamics were excruciatingly annoying. A balance of all male characters lusting after Catherine. Her decisions seem unrealistic. She questions her sisters motives from the beginning and yet does not attempt to find the truth for herself before thinking rationally. I will not say it is the worst I have seen but I doubt I will finish it.

I like to read books that are original and capture realism. The same old romance novel does not apply here. I'd highly recommend this book and do. I would also say her second novel A Wicked Deception is just as enjoyable. Hoping for a third.
