Visiting his sister Mary at the lighthouse should be a delightful vacation for Elliot--except he’s going there in disgrace while he awaits his fate from the wizard council.

Mary’s assistant, Rue, is a gentle, self-possessed young man about Elliot’s age. Elliot is drawn to him, and his magic seems to calm down around the handsome and mysterious Rue. Elliot sinks gratefully into the unexpected grace of Rue's kindness and friendship. He doesn’t understand why his magic is broken or why it feels whole again around Rue. But right now he’s just trying to survive, grateful for the reprieve Rue’s friendship provides.

    A truly enchanting tale!

The story of Elliot and Rue is a delightful paranormal romance that takes place in a fairytale-esque world that captures reader's imaginations with carriages that are powered magically, storms that speak to wizards, and handsome young men who turn into selkies.

Elliot and Rue have both been hurt by the magic in their lives but are instantly drawn to each other in spite of past pain. Every yin needs a yang, and Elliot's out of control magic is soothed by Rue's innate gentleness. They develop a deep bond of friendship from the start, but when the element of is introduced to their love it strains the comfortable and easy tone of their interactions. Determined to avoid the complications of romance and return their relationship to it's initial roots, each young man, for his own reasons, is afraid of the consequences taking those first uncertain steps towards a deeper love might have.

A WIZARD'S SHELTER is a beautifully written tale that is presented in Hollis Shiloh's classically tender style. Vulnerable characters embark on a journey of discovery together, where they learn that even the people closest to you are not always as they appear and are then challenged to decide what it is in life that matters most.

The seaside setting is as dynamic as the cast of characters who are, in turn, woven seamlessly together in a style that paints readers a word picture that is as vivid as a rainbow after a storm. This is a sweetly romantic novella length story that will delight both long time readers and those who are experiencing Shiloh's magic for the first time.

A copy of A Wizard's Shelter was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
