Florida P.I. Gin Ritchey lives on a boat and takes life easy whenever she can. Trouble is, she never overheard a conversation she didn't find interesting. Her snowbird neighbors from New Jersey, three couples and a widower with a sexy young girlfriend, spend a lot of time outdoors where she can share their lives vicariously. When the widower dies mysteriously, everyone suspects the girlfriend, but Gin isn't so sure. There's something suspicious about the situation, and when she talks to Bunny (who was born Agnes), she soon figures out how a seemingly natural death could really have been murder. All she has to do is prove it--oh, and find out who did it. Before Gin can fit the puzzle together, another of the snowbirds is dead. The obvious suspect is Vinnie, the investment counselor who is a compulsive gambler, but neither his wife nor Gin believes he did the killings. Gin's investigations reveal some secrets the snowbirds would prefer to have kept, but not in time to prevent yet another attempted murder. When she finally learns the reason for the first death, all becomes clear--or does it?
..a fun read ...with interesting characters and lots of false clues. Motives abound as suspicions run rampant and Gin and her police detective friend try to separate fact from fiction. The reader will enjoy the setting for this tale as something different and it gives you a feel for life on a small water craft as you climb over the rail of the Blue Jasmine. Be sure to wear shoes with a nonslip tread and keep lots of sunblock handy. I'm pleased to recommend A Woman to Blame...

Marthanne Shubert skillfully masked the killer's identity until the very end when she almost sprung the identity on the reader. The main character, Gin, is a very strong character with a well developed sense of humor and personality. I loved how she made Bunny a bimbo but not a stupid one. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style of the author...she pens an excellent mystery. 4 Cups!
