A very well written instructional chess book

This is a perfect book for novice / intermediate players, especially younger people. There are many unique chapters that cannot be found in any other chess book. A very well written book! I would rate this as one of the top 5 instructional books of all time.

Very good book for beginners and novices

This is absolutely the best book for beginners and novice players. This book is geared for players age 8 and older as well as parents and coaches. The lay out is fantastic and easy to understand. I strongly recommend parents and coaches to follow the recommendations by Susan in the book. She is one of the best chess coaches in the world today.

Very unique and wonderful chess book

I like this book a lot. GM Polgar did a really good job. The puzzles are nicely organized into easy to understand chapters. The pattern recognition technique section is fantastic. The tips and recommendations section is also very neat. I would strongly recommend this book.

Rather disapointed to say the least

I met the author at a book signing at the national championships when my girl played there. Indeed, a classy lady and very good player. This would certainly lead to writing some books. However, this book is certainly not for a lower rated chess player as it may indicate. The book jumps around from one thing to another making it rather confusing for a child or beginner. If this book was indicated to be for a more advanced player it would have received a three or maybe a four star ranking.

A World Champion's Guide to Chess: Step-by-Step Instructions for Winning Chess the Polgar Way

This is a very easy book to learn from. I agree that all parents and coaches should use this book for teaching their youngsters.

    Good but not great

I enjoyed this book. It has a lot of material though it is not really well set up to be a text book for a coach, parent and certainly not a young child (too complex - the author writes at an adult level).

A World Champion's Guide to Chess: Step-by-Step Instructions for Winning Chess the Polgar Way

I met Ms. Polgar twice at national scholastic chess events. She is such a classy champion. She gave a pep talk to all the kids and gave them plenty of good tips. My daughter thinks she is the greatest. I also love her teaching method. This book is a great help for both my daughter and I to learn from. I will also use this book to teach the kids in the after school chess program. Thank you Susan for writing a fantastic chess book!
