In a middle volume framed as a battle of the sexes, the author pulls some clever switcheroos (The School for Good and Evil, 2013). A sincere if ill-timed wish summons Agatha and Sophie back to the twinned School for Good and Evil—to find it transformed into separate schools for girls and for boys. The latter is filled with brutal, callous, unwashed louts led (at first) by vengeful Tedros of Camelot. A scary new dean in the former has changed the fairy-tale textbooks to make all the male characters evil and instituted radical policies for the girls: "We wear pants, we don't do our nails…we even eat cheese!" Though Chainani tries to keep the rival camps entirely separate by leaving out any hint of sex or even (a mighty pull between Agatha and Tedros aside) romance, Sophie's temporary transformation into a boy at one point to sneak into the other school leads to a tender scene with Tedros. Another character turns out to be a spell-disguised boy who just preferred the girls' school. Readers will be drawn in by set pieces, including the currently obligatory Hunger Games–style competition, but nearly all turn out to be incidental to the broader plot, which ends, of course, in a cliffhanger. The closing volume should tie up those loose ends with, if the first two volumes are indicators, wild swings of terror and hilarity. (Fantasy. 11-13)

Honestly, I was not expecting the book to be this AMAZING. Considering it was a sequal, and in my experiance sequals are usually not as good. This book was fast pasted and leaved me crying for more. At first i did not really care who Agatha went with, until the ending when i was so devastated that i nearly cried when they did not choose each other. I leaped out of bed and grabbed my phone, sighing in relief as i found out there would be a third book. This book was just as good, maybe even better than the first. I just loved the characters Dot, Ravan, Hort, and Philip. ( I know he was sophie in disguise but i don't care.

This sequel to the original book will blow your mind as the two girls trust each other less day by day. The end just leaves you with your mouth gaping open at the unexpected turn of events. I reccomend this book for ages 10+

This book was great, but around page 255, it started glitching. I was able to advance to the next page if I tapped "Go to page" and entered the number of the page I wanted to go to. Overall, I was able to get through the glitch, and it was a great book. It may have been my nook's fault, so I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

My daughter has read the first two books a few times each and finally told me I should read them too. I thank her for recomending such a wonderfully different fairy tale for me to read! Everything is turned upside down in this tale ... who is good and who is evil ... who will the princess choose ... most stories have a somewhat predictable ending but this one has my daughter and I discussing, guessing, hoping what the final ending will be in book 3 ... but we really have no idea and that's pretty awesome!

I was hoping this one to be better than the first one, but at least the book did not get any worse. You get a little more back story with the characters, but I was itching for me. I feel like some chapters felt like fillers, but still a good sequel.

One day i went to the bookstore and I saw the 1st book on the shelf, and thought it would be a good book to read. Turns out, it was the best book I have ever read in my life! But I can't decide which book i like best because they are both so good I can not choose! I just loved these books.
