Overview

The first Broadway revival of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's 1990 musical Once on This Island opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre on December 3, 2017. A supernatural story involving natural disaster, love, betrayal, and fate on an island in the Antilles, it stars Hailey Kilgore as teenaged Ti Moune in her Broadway debut. She's joined by another newcomer, Isaac Cole Powell, in the role of Daniel, as well as by Lea Salonga, Merle Dandridge, and Glee alum Alex Newell. Released in February 2018, Once on This Island: The Musical [New Broadway Cast Recording] also features the revival's new orchestrations by AnnMarie Milazzo and original orchestrator Michael Starobin, who added instruments like trash bins and found objects to the palette and reimagined the pit orchestra as part of the vocal arrangements.
