This is a great book that provides an 'in-depth overview' 'i.e. is not a full-on textbook but gives you substantially more than just a brief mention of things' of critical care nursing. I wish it had been used as a text for the critical care course required by my hospital before beginning work in the unit...it would have supplemented the teaching and handouts given in class beautifully. I used it to get me started on studying for CCRN and continue to use it as a reference on a regular basis. Highly recommended!
