Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
I am afraid if you are not familiar with the series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" this early reader may be a bit difficult to follow. A young girl Katrina and her brother Sokka find a young boy lying in the cold snow. They took him back to their home and learned that he had run away from home because he was upset. Suddenly, the Fire Nation soldiers appeared and they threatened to destroy the village if the young boy did not come with them. He is suddenly a prisoner, but he escapes due to his ability to bend or control the air. The mission is suddenly set for Katrina and her brother; they must rescue the last Airbender, the Avatar who is the only one who can bring peace to the world. Then he learns the truth about his amazing time spent frozen in ice and realizes that he must seek out other teachers to learn to control all the elements. The book ends such that readers know there will be more to follow. The introduction of his animal friend Appa is abrupt and there is no explanation about how he came into the current time. The illustrations are stills taken from the movie. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

The tv series is killer, but this stinks! The editorial review is wrong. Its Katara not katrina. They dont find him laying in the snow, he is in a iceberg. This book/movie sucks. Not the series
