Editorial Reviews

Ellen Fader

A wonderful stupendously blunderful read aloud: full of delicious word play that will delight listeners, with art reminiscent of Edward Ardizzone.
Children's Literature - Bonita Herold
When Mona was growing up, she loved animals; but her parents lived busy lives that didn't allow for pets. Her grandparents, who lived clear across the country, claimed they were busy, too, yet they couldn't look the other way when love was needed. At age eight, Mona went to live with them for the summer. She looked forward to playing with the dogs and goat. And when her Uncle Matthew, a juggler in the circus, sent her a present, she thought she might be learning how to walk on stilts as well. Imagine her surprise when she found, instead of the long box she expected, a cat carrier holding a baby lioness! Mona fell in love with Kiki; like kitties everywhere, she was soft, cuddly, and very smart. But would she get to keep her? As an adult, Mona remembers that special love for Kiki and all other animals. Temporarily derailed from her dream of working with animals, she picks it up and runs straight to Rainbow Street. Graduating from early beginners, fans of the "Rainbow Street Shelter" books will delight in reading this charming love story between Kiki and eight-year-old Mona.

Praise for Missing! A Cat Called Buster:
BCCB

The storytelling is crisp and clean, and the focus is squarely on the child-animal relationships, with a bit of family dynamics worked in.
Booklist

The book is well designed for readers moving up to chapter books, with its short sentences, wellspaced lines of type, and attractive illustrations.
