Overview

Many Christians feel broken and angry but don’t think they can express these real feelings around others—or to God. So we put on a mask to hide our identity. Feelings of embarrassment and shame make us hide from the One who truly loves us. Author Brennan Manning encourages you to let go of this stressful, unreal impostor lifestyle and freely accept your identity as a child of God. Find the rest that you long for as you grow in character and accept His lordship. Includes discussion questions.

The liberating message of this book is that God longs for us to know in the depths of our being that He loves and accepts us as we are. God is our "Abba, " our loving father, who knows us far better than we know ourselves. The shocking revelation of Abba's Child is two-fold: that sin has a greater grip than we realize on our hearts, and that God loves us far more than we can imagine.

    I found God and myself.

I have been a Christian all of my life and was even a missionary for 9 years and helped many people to come to know the love of God. But somehow, inside, I couldn't feel it for myself. Every time I found a book that offered intimacy with God, I grabbed it with hope, only to be bitterly disappointed. They were full of head knowledge and and 'how to's' that I already knew and practiced more than most Christians. Still, I couldn't somehow connect with God on the deepest levels of my soul. This book helped me to do that for the first time in my life. It has been a huge part of my healing and released in me the passion and hunger for God that I had long ago lost hope of ever fulfilling. It is not a 'how to' book. You have to look deeply inside of yourself and slowly absorb its truths. It is best if you journal as you are reading it. You will be amazed months later as you look back in your journal and see the depths of your experience reflected in your writings.

    Fantastic!

This beautiful book really brings to life the love of God for His children. Reading this book helped me to feel closer to God and more loving towards others. Nothing can teach you more than the Bible, but this makes a great devotion. I would recomend it to anyone!

    My Chains Fell Off

After my first reading of 'Abba's Child' I experienced a level of freedom in my life. After my third reading I have been totally revoluntionized! My past is filled with tragedy, abuse and heartaches that caused me to live as an impostor, but now I am a new man! I will never recover from reading this book!

The Truth Shall Set You Free

I have read and listened to the Bible many times. I have attended many different churchs seeking the truth about God's Love. Well now I have found it, this book makes more sense than anything that I have studied before. I liked it so much I am sending copies of it to friends.

    Unhappy with this purchase

I am unhappy with this purchase. From the other reviews, I thought this book would be much like some of the other wonderful books I have read lately: "So you don't want to go to Church anymore""He love me". While there may be a great message in this book, I am struggling to find it as I feel as if I am in a classroom. This must be the writer's style, but I can't seem to get through very much of it. I tried just opening the book to any page, just to find a page or sentence that "Struck", but I have not as yet. Cheers to those who do.
