What a wonderful book. Abby, Penbrake, and Charlie the cat are wonderful characters for this very pleasing fantasy. Abby th witch of Bridgestone, along with a reluctant Pembrake, and her trustworthy car Charlie, are thrust back in time 28 years to prevent the assisination of a prince that leads to the Witches Ban. They stumble their way through the past, to change an apocolyptic future. Suprise ending. A must read

    Aimless

Sixty pages in. I understand driving a point home. But if an author really needs almost ten pages just to tell me that a storm is coming they are simply over reaching and trying too hard.

Another problem is that there is way too much rambling and aimless self reflective thought with the main character. It does not even make much sense or have a point. I suspect that at some point it might lead somewhere but I am not interested enough to find out.

I am not too into the talking cat either. Too Sabrina the Teenage Witch for me. Plus the cat emphasizes the main character's directionless thought meandering by having to startle her out of her reverie at least two or three times in as many pages.

I thought about making myself finish this. But sixty pages in, it has already been stated that the main character dislikes heroes, adventure, excitement, love, etc. In other words she is boring and not very likable. This book is over 600 pages long. I will move on to other things.

    Cute story

Fun and entertaining story that is enjoyable to read if you can get past the crazy amount of spelling and typographical errors. With as many hands that a book goes through before it goes on the shelf, someone should have gone over it with a red pen!

I enjoyed this paranormal story, and thought the ending was just right. However, the novel would have benefited from a professional editor - there were a lot of word choice errors and times when the character's voice dropped into the 21st century - very distracting. Does anyone think that "okay" would have made it into the fantasy world vernacular 300 years ago? And the word "rogue" was mistaken for "rouge" too many times.

    Good book but...

I thought it was well written, but in the beginning I almost deleted it due to the way the main male character acted and treated Abby. He was thoroughly unlikable and really didn’t improve much through out the book.

If you can get past that, it's an entertaining read. I'm glad I didn’t delete it, but the guy was obnoxious.

The other part I didn’t like was that the end was so abrupt it left me going, What? WHAT? What just happened?

I'd recommend it for a light read, but I wouldn’t run out and search for it.

I do not give an exceptional rating very often, but I loved this

I do not give an exceptional rating very often, but I loved this story. I was rooting for Abby every step of the way. Loved her cat too and all the characters. Wish they would make a movie of this. Wish Odette C. Bell would write a sequel.
