Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
There are few surprises in this ABC book. It begins with a red apple followed by a ball and a cow. The alphabet is full of animals, toys, plants, food, clothing and other items that a child might come across. All of the pictures have been carefully arranged on each spread along with a word describing what is depicted and both the upper and lower case form of each letter in the alphabet. While it is not an outstanding book, it certainly is a serviceable introduction to the ABCs. There is a box that contains "Rookie Storytime Tips" and in this case it encourages toddlers to say the letters and listen to the words associated with each picture. It is an opportunity for caregivers and parents to make a game of singing the ABC song. Part of the "Rookie Toddler" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
