Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
"Next time won't you sing with me" takes on new meaning with the novelty/concept book ABC Sing-Along by Teddy Slater, illus. by Lisa Chauncy Guida. Each letter of the alphabet is accompanied by original lyrics designed to be sung to familiar tunes like "Down by the Station" or "Yankee Doodle." (Sept.) Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature - Danielle Williams
The best way to introduce children to reading and learning is to make learning engaging and fun. Slater has done an admirable job of creating rhymes set to familiar children's songs. The songs take each letter by turn and use as many words that begin with the letter as possible that will fit into a very short song. The illustrations are whimsical and somewhat interactive in that several illustrations have colorful or pop-up inserts, though just as many have no additions. The book is accompanied by a CD featuring each of the songs in turn. Simple and slightly folksy, the songs are fun and easy to learn, though it is difficult to imagine how the CD could be resourced in anything outside of a children's hour at a local library or in a daycare center. That being said, the songs would be very easy to incorporate into a pre-school or daycare environment and would easily engage five to ten young children for the length of the CD.

I got this book for my preschooler 6 years ago. This book have upper and lower case and catching rhyming song with each alphabet to sing along with. Even I like the tune of this song. I think every preschooler parent should have one. I want to past this book on to my friend's twin; but, my daughter who now 8 and still love this book and wants to keep it as memory. So, I'm going to buy a new one for my friend's twin.

This book and CD combination was a great find for our 4th child! Each page contains a short song that emphasizes a letter of the alphabet. The upper and lower case letters are clearly represented. The songs are catchy and to the tune of familiar songs for children. The illustrations are fun and many pages include a special feature such as pull tabs or textures to experiment with.
