Above Neil Rock: Stories & Poems
Above Neil Rock: Stories & Poems
Rural South Oregon Stories set in the early 1960s through the 1990s mostly the Rogue River Valley. Logging, farming, ranching, and human social interaction and lives and times. U.S. Army during late 1960s and early 70s. This book is mostly a first person account with interludes of stories heard and sometimes widely know. This is creative non-fiction that is sometimes unafraid of jumping to the author's imagination--fully announcing the leap as it goes. There are a couple dozen poems interlaced through this as well. The author uses a perspective of having grown up in south Oregon, and having come back to there, and the beauty and sense of place that has effected everyone who has ever lived there, as well as a loss of something with gentrification.
