    Very good journalistic account of the 1860 election

    Almost everyone interested in history knows about the legendary rise of Abraham Lincoln and his election to the presidency in 1860. But not many know about the other candidates in that race and how, if just a few things had worked out differently (such as the Democratic party remaining united) Lincoln most likely would have never made it to the White House.

    Garry Boulard has done a great job of compiling the drama and ups and downs of this most historic race and election.
