Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Children's Literature
Black-and-white sketches of Lincoln and several full color illustrations of his homes accompany a brief text that describes the life of one of America's greatest presidents. Lincoln was self-educated, known for his honesty and truly believed that all men should be free. He signed the Emancipation Proclamation and served as President throughout the Civil War. His assignation is mentioned. Of the books in the "Famous Americans" series, this one has the least impact. It doesn't do the man justice. Definitions, a short bibliography with Internet sites, and an index round out this mini-biography. 1999, Pebble Books/Capstone, Ages 5 to 8, $13.25. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
