Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jody Little
As a nonfiction companion to the "Magic Tree House" series book #47, this book is filled with information about the life of Abraham Lincoln from childhood to his unexpected death at Ford's Theater. Written in simple, easy-to-follow language, readers will discover Lincoln's humble beginnings starting with his parents' life traveling to Kentucky from Virginia, to his birth in a one-room cabin, to his love of books as a child, to his interest in politics and debating, and finally, to his election as the 16th President of the United States for which he is best known especially his leadership through the Nation's Civil War. Chapters are filled with illustrations and photographs and many end with fun facts about Lincoln such as why he grew a beard and how he was the only President to get a patent for an invention. To assist in report writing for young students, the authors include tips for undertaking research, additional books about Abe Lincoln, Museums and Landmarks to visit, DVD suggestions, Internet sites and an index.
