No one ever considers that a male child could ever possibly be molested in such a manner. If people only knew what 'we' thought and have experienced, maybe we could be better understood. The author 'unknowingly' knows exactly what happened to me. Read 'what happened to me' and be a better person for it. I had been abused for three years and am now coming around to deal with it. Guys, read this book and know it was not your fault at all. ALL Parents should read this book to understand and prevent abuse.

This book changed my life. It was the first "suggested reading" assignment by my first therapist. From the moment I first opened the cover, to closing the last page - I FINALLY realized I was not ALONE, I did NOT ask for, nor did I invite this, and I KNEW that I would survive. And I have!! Full of relatable real life stories, you may not find just one person you relate to. You may feel more like I did - I saw bits and pieces of myself in each man's story. So much so that once I started reading it? I couldn't put it down. I wanted to feel the relief that came each time an experience I had also survived, was expressed by the men, and retold/examined/explained by the author. It was NOT your fault! You are NOT alone!

Mic Hunter has created a classic with his 'Abused Boys'. Not only does he provide a comprehensive overview of the dynamics of abuse but he has integrated coping modalities and case examples as well. Men who have been sexually abused will find this book a valuable resource and touchstone for their use. While the original date might put some people off from purchasing the contents definitely outweigh the publication date with its resources. I have utilized the book personally and in my professional recovery & life coaching practice as well.

This book is very complete. It talks about the types of abuse, how the victim is afected and is full with real stories written by victims who sufferes this type of abuse and today are survivors. I personally bought this book to understand my clients since I am a socialworker and to learn more about this types of abuse that happens very often in our society. We tend to think that the victims of sexual abuse are more likely to be girls, but the reality is that it happens to the boys too and this book makes you realize that.
