I've read quite a few biographies of World War II fighter pilots, and this one has to be one of the best I've read. The author does a great job of not only telling the story of his combat exploits, but also sharing the story of becoming a fighter pilot, and the events the took place between the times of combat. it paints a very thorough picture of what it was like to live through those times. From an aviation perspective, the book gives fascinating insights into the development of the Marines' night-fighter program. A great book that I would recommend to any fan of history or aviation.
